The Silurian Hypothesis is one of the coolest mind fucks in science! It says that if an industrial civilization existed on Earth millions of years before us, would we even know? Not the aliens or Atlantean laser wizards. Just a prior intelligent species that got advanced enough and then disappeared. No big ass glorious ruins with little brass plaques saying “we were here.” kind a shit. Just strange layers in the rocks, weird carbon signatures, maybe industrial residues, extinction signals, climate spikes, or even some type of chemical scar indicating something happened here that wasn’t normal. The hypothesis doesn't guarantee a lost advanced civilization. It basically says our ego is nuts insane if we think deep time would preserve iPhones. The Earth is a super grinder. It rips and crushes, and recycles almost everything. If a prior culture existed 50 million or 100 million years ago, the evidence would definitely not look like a city. It might look like a dirty little anomaly in sediment that scientists will miss or just shrug off. I think that maybe civilization is not a straight line as most think. Are we just the latest "loud" species to light a fire, build machines, and "think" we invented history.

J'ai fait un petit outil pour identifier le style IA dans un texte. Le but est de visualiser ce qui, dans un texte, a l'air d'avoir été écrit par un LLM (indépendamment de sa véritable origine : ce n'est pas un détecteur IA). Les passages qui sonnent IA sont surlignés et en passant la souris dessus, vous pouvez voir pour quelle raison ils ont été repérés. Le but est d'apprendre à repérer les tics des LLM, et plus fondamentalement d'écrire mieux, parce que c'est plus agréable pour tout le monde. Utilisez-le ici : stylus-app.com
