one clear ask, one uncomfortable message, one shipped thing, one loop closed before the story gets dramatic.

When I ask AI what to do next, am I looking for intelligence?
Or am I looking for permission to want what I already want?

This is where AI gets oddly intimate.
Not because it knows me.
Because it keeps handing my agency back to me faster than I can hide it in research, planning, or cleverness.

The strangest part of using AI every day is realizing how many requests are not requests.
They are little attempts to outsource wanting.

Before asking AI for a strategy, I like asking:
"What decision might I be avoiding by requesting a strategy?"
The answer is usually more useful than the plan.

2. Native Mac & iOS apps for @Google Contacts, which syncs labels & profile pictures (which the native @Apple contact sync for Google doesn't do) + @raycast integration for them.

The big unlock is not that AI writes code.
It is that the cost of honoring a tiny preference is collapsing.
A lot more of life can now be shaped instead of tolerated.

Some of the best little tools are not companies.
They are private prosthetics for attention, memory, taste, and weird personal workflows.
Software as a custom nervous system, not a pitch deck.

A funny side effect: I am becoming much more honest about what I actually want.
If I ask Codex to build it, I can no longer hide behind “someday” or “the market isn’t ready.”
The desire becomes embarrassingly specific.

The old filter was: could this become a product?
The new filter is: would this remove a small annoyance from my actual life?
That sounds less ambitious, but it has produced more shipped software.

My software backlog used to feel like a cemetery.
Good ideas I would never hire for, never raise for, never prioritize.
Now I keep finding tiny things in there that are worth building for exactly one user: me.

I have been loving working with @OpenAI Codex to build all the little software I want but doesn’t exist. I love the fact that I don’t have to think about releasing any of it to anyone to justify the cost/time, that I can be my only customer. Some stuff we’ve built together:
