At its core JHipster is a @yeoman generator, probably the most complex yeoman generator out there, really, the codebase is huge. We also have our own CLI for stuff that were too complex to do just with yeoman, like the JDL generator

.@geteslint has a @yeoman generator to generate a boilerplate to develop eslint plugins and rules. It's kinda amazing what's all possible with ASTs.

@guillaumeehret I'd like to clarify the project is still maintained and many companies are still using generators for their in-house bootstrapping. It is not deprecated; we could say at most it is depreciated in favor of the create-X-app tools for the most popular open source frameworks.
