The @Merkle_Trade , which I passionately contributed to as a developer, is now coming to an end.
Over a considerable period of time, the team made every effort to operate transparently and uphold high standards within the crypto space, while actively communicating with the community. Even in challenging environments, we continuously worked to improve the product, refine the structure, and enhance the overall user experience through constant iteration and experimentation.
Although the protocol is closing, the lessons remain. I gained firsthand experience in tokenomics design, risk management, treasury operations, and most importantly the critical importance of trust with the community.
I am grateful to the teammates, community members, and users who were part of this journey. I will never forget the passionate teammates who worked alongside me.
Building on this experience, I will continue working toward a better future. The time I spent with Merkle was truly a meaningful journey.

Unfortunately a failed TGE had a big impact on retaining power users and attracting new ones, no matter how good the tech is
In this environment if you can’t provide value for your traders, you don’t stand a chance as a perp DEX. It’s the naked truth no matter how much some would like to spin the narratives

After careful consideration, we are announcing that Merkle will begin winding down operations over the next few weeks.
This decision did not come lightly. Building Merkle has been one of the most intense and meaningful chapters of our lives. From early prototypes to $30B in cumulative trading volume, from our first users to a global community, we pushed ourselves to build something we believed should exist.
Over the years, we focused on making onchain trading accessible for everyone. We shipped countless iterations on the product, and was one of the first in the industry to introduce innovative features like walletless sign-in, unified deposits, a mobile-first app experience, gamified trading, and much more. Some ideas worked. Some did not. But every step moved us forward.
To everyone who traded with us, partnered with us, invested in us, or supported us quietly in the background, thank you. Your trust and feedback shaped the product more than you know. It did not end the way we hoped. But we are proud of what we built, and grateful to everyone who was part of it.
Wind down timeline
- Feb 6 (Fri) 00:00 UTC: No more opening new positions (no increase orders)
- Feb 10 (Tue) 00:00 UTC: All remaining positions will be closed, and MKLP will become instantly redeemable (no fees, no 4-day withdrawal period)
- Feb 12 (Thu) 00:00 UTC: Final revenue distribution (Epoch 80). Staked MKL will be redeemable from this point on.
The remaining treasury assets are planned to be redeemable with the MKL token shortly after the wind down is complete. We will share more details on this in the coming days.

Closing a three-year chapter at @AptosLabs, after a few months of time off for myself. I wasn’t able to reach out one by one as life has been busy offline.🙏
Deeply grateful to @AveryChing, @SolomonTesfaye_, and both the current and former leadership for the trust, and for bringing me into one of the most exceptional groups of people I’ve worked with. Being “Aptos Christie” wasn’t just a nickname. My conversations, socials, and connections revolved around @Aptos, and even now I still spend most of my days talking with Aptos team members (current and former), ecosystem builders, and community friends. I did my best in my role to contribute meaningfully to what we were building.
Working alongside builders and partners across the world has been a defining part of my journey. After nearly 15 years in tech/startups, this chapter clarified what kind of work matters most to me: helping others, especially top-tier founders and teams who can create meaningful, positive impact through technology. Aptos gave me the space to do this fully, authentically, and at scale.
There’s no need to label what comes next. AI is reshaping how we work, build, and define careers anyway, as I’ve shared here before on my feed. What I do know is that I remain bullish on builders in Web3, especially those who can thoughtfully leverage AI for both their products and daily operations.
More to come. Likely with some sleepless nights. 😂
