Very insightful thread, many people should be reading this. On our end we can afford to process payment without a queue only because you don’t tell a punter to wait, he want to bet the next second. That means we put up the infrastructure to handle it; many instance with task workers; and auto scaling read/write database instance. For the withdrawals, we obviously rely on a queue since they are more likely to cause you harm (you can always refund or topup a user, but you’ll never get your money back after it got out).
