A man with direct access to the White House called a senior immigration official about his ex-girlfriend at the exact moment it would benefit him in a custody dispute. That official then called ICE’s Miami field office to make sure she was picked up before she was released from jail, emphasizing that the case mattered to someone close to the White House.
