I have never seen a more stunning and clear rejection of an entire political party. The public is willing to tolerate some authoritarianism in exchange for material benefits but not as an end in and of itself. Trump outsourced his admin to the most psycho fascists (Stephen Miller) and a bunch of tech oligarchs while he did a smash and grab for his family, built a guilded ballroom and threw a Gatsby party. Meanwhile the broader GOP is enmeshed in a debate over whether to just become outright Nazis.
