I would guess with few exceptions most in the Valley are paycheck-oriented vs. mission-oriented. Elsewise they would have fulfilling jobs outside of SV.
I learned this the hard way whilst scaling a startup. Very rare but the few who did care about the work are still friends!

I too have found that Uber's advanced booking feature, even in larger metropolitan areas like San Francisco, are frequently like the Seinfeld reservation bit.

Uber's "book in advance" feature is incredibly misleading. I've used it twice for early flights, and both times no car showed because none were actually available. The app makes it seem like you have a real reservation when you do not. Recommend using a car service instead
