One way I try to decrease my environmental impact in the OR is by choosing reusable instruments, being very comfortable with clamp-cut-tie, and judicious use of electrosurgical instruments. What are ways you try to reduce your impact?#JMIGjc @AAGLJMIG @CKeller_MD @Bhargavidhani

A little different, it is a call to action, an opportunity to bring attention to the topic. We begin by pointing out the cyclical nature of healthcare contribution to climate change that then cause worse health outcomes and increased need for healthcare @AAGLJMIG #JMIGjc

Operating rooms account for up to 30% of waste generated by hospitals. This includes large amounts of single use items (gloves, drapes, gowns, instruments) and plastic packaging that is sent to the landfill. Avoid the OR if you can! #JMIGjc @AAGLJMIG

@MeganLeigh127 @AAGLJMIG @CKeller_MD @Bhargavidhani My favorite trick is using the reusable suction tip + intra-abdominal pressure to clear the field when there is small to moderate amounts of fluid. Residents are always 🤯 when we avoid the suction-irrigator for major surgeries.
