Years of Conservative cuts and rising demand for adult social care, special needs and housing has left local councils across the country on their knees. In the London Borough of Sutton, we spend most of your money on these specialist services for the vulnerable - leaving little left to deliver all the other services local residents expect. The Labour Government must step up to provide fairer funding for councils.

The volunteers and staff at @Anstee_Bridge work wonders to support young people who are struggling with school. Wonderful to visit their new site in Fulwell and see their creative workshops in action, helping young people build confidence and resilience.

Thames Water is seeking leniency that would allow sewage dumping to continue for 15 more years - this must be rejected. We cannot afford to keep delaying action on environmental protections. We need accountability and a new Clean Water Authority, not write-offs that come at the cost of our natural world.

I've written to Keir Starmer, urging him to apply more pressure on Hamas to get them to agree to a ceasefire. With the renewed hope of this latest peace proposal, we cannot allow Hamas to block the peace, dignity and security which both Israelis and Palestinians deserve.
