They will need to be at 90 ahead of time, which means they can run at 89 (plus Aiyuk) until the next cut. It’s worth it for the time being to keep the trade window open. If Aiyuk signals he won’t restructure for a new team, he’d effectively be cutting his own throat, because that would guarantee he gets released at the last minute; meaning not only is his conditioning and prep work shot, but if he finds a team at all to sign him, it will be for far less than he would get on a restructure. You’re thinking Aiyuk is holding cards. He’s not. His leverage (and his options) are purely imaginary.

Brandon Aiyuk will only play for the Commanders he won’t restructure his contract for another team in a trade so no team will trade for him. The 49ers are dumb because they know Aiyuk is going to ball for the Commanders next season & don’t want to look wrong.

It doesn’t require guidance, my dude. It’s a simple situation. There is no benefit to the 49ers releasing Aiyuk until they absolutely have to. None. In fact, it would be stupid to do so. An early release to give another team in your conference (likely the Commanders) a chance to theoretically improve their roster? At an extreme, you do that for a player who is on good terms, trying to get a fresh start. You don’t do that for a guy that just f*cked you over and left you high and dry mid season. Thats not how football, or even life, works.
