BYU paid $7 million to AJ Dybantsa.
He led the nation in scoring. Cool.
They finished 10th in the Big 12 and were a 6-seed in the NCAA Tournament after losing a key guard to injury.
They lost to an 11-seed Texas team that finished 10th in the SEC.
Is that NIL $ well spent?

Am i super disappointed in a first round exit, absolutely. Is there enough sample size to question anything (except maybe the defense 🤢) from KY when at least 5 of the pieces he initially had to put on the court weren’t able to play. I don’t think so. Any team, would falter with that kind of adversity. AJ is special enough to make the players left available even competent. Excited for next year!

@AMarkham_UN Dude, focus on the Utes, my gosh. If anyone up there cared about your own basketball program half as much as you seem to care about BYU’s they might be good. You brought in a good coach, seem to be investing in the program. Talk about that and get people to buy in. Geez

Keep in mind BYU will try to spin this as if they’re not one of the top teams paying. Then I’ll just remind them not all their stuff is public because it’s a private institution — their favorite rebuttal.
Why deflect from it? The school & fanbase used to consider it a positive.
