Their names are Xiaojun Chen, Dede Fredy, Chow Khai Shien, Bijoy Paul & Ik Wong. They worked without sick leave, super, or OHS coverage. Likely for $10-11 an hour. 'Gig economy' platforms like @Uber_Australia are creating an underclass of servant workers it is killing people.

No job is safe from the 'gig economy.' It would have once been unfathomable that aged care & disability work would be app based. Now workers are forced to pitch their services on apps like Care .com for as low as $9 an hour because there aren't enough secure jobs for everyone.

In 8 weeks, 5 delivery riders have been killed at work. 1 worked for @HungryPanda15. 1 worked for @DoorDash. 3 worked for @UberEats / @Uber_Australia. Now its up to discretion of companies that paid them an average of $10 an hour as to whether their families are looked after.

Check out this email from @DidiGlobal to one of its workers. 🤬 'Be your own boss' is a lie pushed by corporations in order to shun any of their employment obligations to workers. Gig workers cant even reject jobs or decide their route without risking being banned. Its a sham.
