@frokfrdk The performance updates have been great the last couple of months, I can comfortably develop at 200fps on a GTX1060.

Garry Newman shared that Facepunch finalised the licence agreement with Valve to release projects created on Source2 using S&Box as separate games on Steam, completely royalty-free. The first of these may be "My Summer Cottage", created by Small Fish.

I just dislike all the options atm Unreal: love the c++, engine is capable / bloated for indies, not a fan of blueprints Unity: used to be perfect, still decent in complexity to configurability / erratic company policies, hell lot of fragmentation aka bloat minus functionality
Barji@BarjiYT

Unity’s biggest asset is its assets. I really hate “engine elitism” but seriously, at this point why would anyone but hobbyists, put their livelihood in the hands of this company when they’ve screwed over their user base endlessly. Runtime, Ironsource, weta digital, calling you stupid. Have they added anything useful, or fixed the glaring issues with the engine, over the past few years? I mean a large portion of the community is still on 2019. If you haven’t already, you should try Godot there’s almost nothing missing at this point, you can use C#, and it’s so easy to switch. People just reiterate the “it needs a few more years” but it’s been a few years!! Not to mention, when you look at the current pool of popular engines, who’s the most likely to position themselves as the vibe coding engine? Maybe that’s your thing, each to their own, but for better or worse that’s where it’s going. It’s also nice to use an engine that doesn’t slow down the longer it’s open, or take 30 seconds to load everytime you want to test. Unity used to be my biggest sponsor, they’d fly me out to events. I had all the reasons in the world not to switch. Try Godot.

@GobaDev How does a 5% increase in your revenue make that much of a difference. If you're making $2,000 a month then that's just $100 more. For that 5% to be meaningful you'd have to be making a lot already.

I'll say, as much as I do like valve and appreciate Steam, seeing how much better off financially I'd be with even a 5% reduction in their cut makes me so sad

@128_mhz If they're programmer to go from Cell 1 to Cell 2 in their path, then removing every 2nd and 3rd through LOS checks will smooth the path out without having to go off grid.

@128_mhz When calculating a path I'd check line of sight with the target first, if there is then just go in a straight line from A to B instead of following the grid. If not I "simplify" the path by doing LOS checks between cells in the final path and remove any in between if there is.

Saw this in the last S&box update summary, and I can say that Garry doesn't mince his words.
