@RedElementBlast @MichaeliArchang We are saved by God's grace alone. But if we don't cooperate with God's grace then we are not really saved. What Jesus said in Matthew 25:31-46 seems to indicate that what we do affects our salvation.

@yusss81 @MichaeliArchang Absolutely, and we can agree on the importance of good works, but we also need to agree about whether those good works do anything to help us get salvation in themselves. I believe that they don't

So wait a minute……..are Prots saying we shouldn’t or don’t need to do the things God wants us to do? This is a pretty stunning admission. For all the talk of “Loving Christ” and making Christ central to everything, it makes y’all sound like petulant disobedient children. 🤷‍♂️

How Protestant - Catholic dialogues often go. Bible says "He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness" (Titus 3:5)

@yusss81 @MichaeliArchang Right, we agree except in terms of definitions. Is works proof of salvation or a requirement of salvation? Practically, the two answers work the same, but one is incompatible with the definition of grace

Here what Catholics really mean by “Submit to Rome” Meet Anne Askew, a young Protestant woman of Lincolnshire, who was arrested in 1545 for denying the doctrine of transubstantiation and for teaching from the Scriptures.

@RedElementBlast @MichaeliArchang That's right, but if your faith is a living faith it will produce fruits, so not having fruits is a sign that your faith is dead, which won't save you. What I'm saying is that it's all connected.

@CorgiSquirrel @SwordMasterPub @JMRJAM @Rblv73 You didn't give anything, you just repeated your opinion that I don't accept in the first place. What makes what you say more authorative than what I say? Nothing. You are giving your opinion lol, and you claiming that's what scripture says doesn't mean a thing.

Lol. A protestant accusing Catholics of using their personal interpretation hahaha, irony is dead. Yeah, not fun when your nonsense is turned back on you. The verse you cited doesn't support sola scriptura. It reads as plain as day. Your denial is a denial of Scripture. Plain and simple. Paul here is talking about the OT there was no NT yet by then. So you are saying that the OT alone is scripture? That is your own personal interpretation. Paul could be referencing the OT or parts of the NT. The vese does not tell us. Given that he is writing the letter and the words are in the letter, it more than likely implies both. But no matter, Paul writes in 2 Timothy 3:16 that "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful... ." So there is that. It is clearly shown that it does not matter. Your personal interpretation/opinion does not matter and clearly contradicts Scripture itself. You put your man made traditions ahead of your reading of God's word, such biases your response every time, and it is obvious.

Who possesses the authority to definitively interpret Scripture? Did Christ leave behind a Church with authority to teach in His name, or did He leave Christianity to be reconstructed by competing private interpretations 1,500 years later?

@CorgiSquirrel @SwordMasterPub @JMRJAM @Rblv73 Except I'm giving the interpretation of the church. You on the other hand give your personal interpretation.the verse you cited even doesn't have to word alone in it, you just add it to support your interpretation. Paul is referencing OT because there was no NT yet by then

@CorgiSquirrel @SwordMasterPub @JMRJAM @Rblv73 Oh so you alone reference the verse, while everyone else add their interpretation to the verse? Hahaha. I do the same actually, I only reference the verse, while others, like you, add their interpretation to the verse.

I don't accept your interpretation of these verses. I just referenced the verses. Any unbiased individual would come to the same conclusion as I did. You are bending the verses to fit your theology. Nope. I simply referenced the verse. The evidence is in the vese(s) themselves. It's funny how you deny that the apostles chosen by Christ are bishops of the church just to fit your interpretation hahaha. This statement does not make enough sense to be funny. The Apostles were apostles; some were bishops. The office of bishop was a different office.

I mean, this is pretty obvious. He said it because we are saved in order that we might do good works, but not because we become unsaved without them. Would it be normal for a human father to disown his son or daughter because they didn't do their chores? If not, then why do you thing God would do that?

@krzysztofwikt14 @Sacramentshow Yeah I agree a book isn’t God. The words in the book are God in written form. The word is God. I agree Mary didn’t birth the father. Mary birthed Jesus in his humanity.

Serious question If Jesus is God and Mary gave birth to Jesus what exactly are Catholics saying wrong when they call her Mother of God? Are you denying Jesus is God, or denying Mary gave birth to Him?

@yusss81 @MichaeliArchang I agree. Loving God will cause obedience, and a lack of obedience shows that any profession of love for God is false. Does sinning cause unjustification? According to God, no.

@yusss81 @SwordMasterPub @JMRJAM @Rblv73 How else can you prove infallibility? You can't just say 'we're infallible, just trust our infallible interpretation of succession passages.' You've got to demonstrate that your interpretation is, in fact, infallible by miraculous gifts.

@yusss81 @MichaeliArchang In my analogy, the wife would like the husband to do those things, but not for the marriage to exist. Similarly, we show love to God when we obey Him, but our justification is permanent and not transient based on our level of obedience

@MichaeliArchang No, they are saying works don't save you. Salvation is a free gift from God. It is the work done by him not you. You should do good works after but the Bible never says people will and calls them carnal men, babes in Christ, because they still walk like the natural man..

Husband: I did the dishes so you won't divorce me. Wife: um, thank you, but what? H: Also, I took out the trash, because I don't want you to divorce me. W: Why do you keep saying that? Why do you think that I want to div-- H: And, I even cleaned the bathroom! That way, you don't div-- W: I wouldn't divorce you, even you didn't do those things, you know. H: ...

@yusss81 @SwordMasterPub @JMRJAM @Rblv73 With respect, I'm not sure I'm the one who is confused. We don't pray for miracles. We pray for God's supernatural-nonmiraculous providence. That is very different from the miracles we read of in the Bible. What you need to prove succession are Biblical miracles.

@UcheMaryOkoli Let´s play your game: a demon said to a priest that he fears terribly when people starve themselves... Now, aren´t demons supposed to be deceiving, according to the lore? And yet "good christians" are supposed to trust this "demon" and do fasting. Make it make sense.
