That’s a great idea Mr. Bezos, but the governments have to make up those losses, for example if you eliminate federal income taxes for individuals making $100,000 or less, that creates a gap that people at top have to make up, the problem with that the rich find a way to pay little to no tax at all, if the federal government comes in and asks the rich to pay extra taxes, they are going to send their lobbyists to DC to stop it from happening and if that fails the rich are going to take their money and hide it in the Cayman Islands or find a way to deduct it from their taxes so they pay little to nothing. Even though your idea is great and it would help, it’s going to be guys like you at the top to make up the difference and I don’t see that happening without serious pushback or threats of capital flight out of the US.

Thank you. The important part is zeroing out taxes on the bottom half. Best way to put money in someone’s pocket is to not take it out in the first place. Bottom half is only 3% of total tax revenue. But it’s very meaningful to that person. Zero it out.

Great idea, only one problem you’ll have people complaining about wealth redistribution or complain that the bottom 99% pay no taxes, but take the majority of government benefits, or if you tell the rich your paying 100% of all taxes local and federal guess what they’ll do they’ll flee high tax jurisdictions crippling the finances and the rich will move their money to the Cayman Islands and they’ll find a way to write off everything so that they don’t pay taxes at all. It would be great if people who make under $100,000 be spared from paying taxes, but if anyone thinks a rich guy like Bezos is going to want to pay more that’s not going to happen the capital will flee so fast and they’ll complain about wealth redistribution.

@SummerFantasies God forbid we ask for that and next thing you know our mayors and governors have to raise taxes because they need to fund those and after that rich say bye bye I’m not going to pay those taxes and flee to tax friendly states.

@SummerFantasies Even though I don’t garden, I love going to my local farm in upstate NY to pick out all the fresh fruits and vegetables in the summer, it’s so great to get out of the city for a little bit and see some farm land.

People who don’t garden will never understand how relaxing it is to stand outside doing absolutely nothing. Just staring at plants like you’re their manager during a workplace inspection.
