@justin_sens @L69fs 23 year old, cost controlled at a reasonable contract with clear upside. His floor is a complementary first liner. The low AAV and no trade protection would get a haul. Brady’s a better player but extenuating circumstances lowered his value

@L69fs Knies played 20 more games lol You can make an argument Brady got more than he's worth because of the name and his playing style, but I think that return is better than Knies would get.

@Barsky420 @jackrichrdson McKenna, nylander, matthews, Tavares. Their entire pp is full of dual threats. Gonna be one of the scariest in the nhl no doubt

Unfortunately I like the Raddysh move for Toronto. Leafs power play will be elite.

@IsserSteve @JFreshHockey He’s brain dead, horrible skater, and is only good to stop up the slot. Hes one dimensional and that dimension isn’t even good

@JFreshHockey That sounds a lot like Risto before the Flyers got their hands on him. Benoit is an excellent skater with size, unless he's brain dead, a lot to work with on a team that has experience with reclamation projects. More upside than Andrae.

Simon Benoit, acquired by PHI, is a big physical depth defenceman who can defend the slot sometimes but also chases hits in his own zone and has a lot of trouble getting the puck out.

@tylerwat2002 @NSPicks @mirtle Put it in perspective. Leafs were getting rid of a goalie and need a puck moving d. Stolarz has no value, but Woll does, and will be replaced by hildeby or AA. Killed two birds with one stone, and got rid of boat anchor Benoit

🚨 The Maple Leafs have reportedly gotten permission from the Minnesota Wild to speak with director of amateur scouting Judd Brackett, who is leaving the Wild. If the Leafs were to hire Brackett, it would be for an AGM position. Reports @FriedgeHNIC #Leafsforever

Nemec isn’t close to Knies value so what is the next best thing we can put together? Cowan, Carlo, and the Colorado 1st? Solid defender making under 4M primed for a bounce back, 2 ELC years of Cowan, and a late 1st. Has to get a conversation going
Rono@RonoAnalyst

BREAKING NEWS: According to Slovak media reports, Šimon Nemec has requested a trade from the New Jersey Devils. GM Sunny Mehta has reportedly neither spoken with him nor offered him a contract extension.

@NHL_Watcher Pretty safe to say Torontos in a better spot than both. Young core of McKenna, Knies, Cowan, and potentially younger d men. LA’s completely cooked without kopitar and oilers management is a disaster

@JeffStanzel1 @hockey_fan007 How could he only have 2 good seasons when over 10 years he leads the league in goals. It’s like a 58 goal pace over 82 games every year. The hart trophy and 69 goal year just made the most noise

a great example of how so called Toronto sports media have influenced #LeafsForever fanbase into hitching their wagon to the wrong horse because of 2 great goal scoring seasons out of 10
Chris McCluskey@mcclusk

I don't want Auston Matthews to leave Toronto. He's the greatest Leaf of all time, even if this is it. I want to see him stay and face the music. I want to see him evolve as a leader and a captain. I want him to change before our eyes and set a tone for the room. I want him to push back. That's Option A for me. Best case scenario. Always has been. When you come into the league as a superstar, you're protected from day one. That's the role of the veterans on the team - you protect the kids. You show them the ropes. I believe that's where Toronto's stars have fallen short. They've never transitioned from the PROTECTED to the PROTECTORS. The battle scars Mike Babcock once told us they'd accrue over time have not paid any dividends. They're the last guys to defend their teammates on a nightly basis. That's a fact and I'll die on this hill. You look at Matthews, Nylander, at Marner before he left. God given talent. They just don't have the grit or the pushback. This drives me absolutely insane because it's the only part of the game that is purely a CHOICE. You can't walk off the street and skate like Willy, or shoot like Auston. But you can come right out of beer league and skate into a scrum with your teammates (not arguing it'd go well for ya). I think they're scared of conflict. I think they're intimidated. And if you think that intimidation doesn't manifest itself in other ways throughout the game, you're sorely mistaken. I'd love nothing more than to see these guys show a level of courage we've never seen before. To lead the charge in pushing back when it's needed. I'd love to see everyone show they've learned the lesson like Easton Cowan did last year. Courage doesn't mean you're never nervous - it means you refuse to let the nerves get in the way of doing what's needed to be an elite competitor and transform your team into a brotherhood. I don't know if that's realistic, but that's always been best case scenario for me. Option A is stay and grow, but we need to see growth from the leaders on this team in ways that have nothing to do with skill. If I knew for certain this could never happen, I've no qualms with Option B. Turn over a new leaf. But man... nothing would be better than seeing these guys suck it up and leave it all out there. Come back with a mean streak. Show us some things we've never seen from ya before. Leave no questions about how much you care.
