@phantompain1984 @NYCMayor @UmAdouma Of course the British "owned" the land. They took it from the Ottomans who took it from the Mamluks who took it from the Crusaders who took it from the Arabs who took it from the Romans who took it from the Hebrews. Ad far as the Jews returning, they paid for the land.

@NYCMayor @UmAdouma The Nakba “catastrophe” is not history. It is the present tense of Balfour’s crime: a British promise to Rothschild over land Britain never owned, enforced for generations through Isræli war crimes and terrørism against Palestinians.
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

Today marks Nakba Day, an annual day of remembrance to commemorate the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel and the year that followed. Inea is a New Yorker and a Nakba survivor. She shared her story with us — one of home, tradition and memory over generations.

@Inayat01 @NYCMayor If a thief never becomes an owner, the Arabs should leave, since they stole it from the indigenous people back in 700 AD (and lost it to the Crusaders, Mamluks Ottomans and British).

The 1948 Catastrophe of Palestine, where over 750,000 Palestinians were displaced from their land & thousands massacred. Zionist backed by British Empire razed Palestinian villages, killing, raping, displacing & imprisoning anyone they could find, to establish the brand new settler colonial project of Israel.

@ADiMarco25 Matthews is on a $13M two year deal, then you have to extend him. He's breaking down physically, 67 and 60 games the last two seasons, with Sh% of 12.6, 11.9, so don't expect 60 goals. Doesn't fit Flyer timeline.

@ADiMarco25 AM34 coming to a Philly team that already has an established leadership core, he’s a legit 1C, he would thrive in Philly, with the buzz around Martone and Mich he would have way less pressure than Toronto, it would be a gigantic upgrade for the Flyers

@avappleyard @NHLFlyers @jasonmyrt With Bump, Foerster and one of Zegras/Barkey and Couts at LW, Michkov can play his more comfortable side. If he gets in better shape and improves his skating, that will make it easier for him on defense at RW. That may mean TK/Tippett play on the "4th line" with Couts and ???.

@NYCMayor Nakba Day, a Jewish holiday commemorating another failed attempt at slaughtering Jews. I'm glad to see the Mayor joins with his Jewish constituents to celebrate the survival of their people against overwhelming odds as four Arab armies intend on slaughter were defeated.

@ProfDBernstein Having gone to a top 15 law school, grades and brilliance are not synonymous, a lot of memorize and regurgitate. Con Law were the only classes requiring real thought. Most LR articles are crap, lawyers aren't trained to do research, they cut and paste out of Westlaw, then BS.

(1) Obama wasn't an idiot, among other things he graduated Magna Cum Laude from HLS, and most of his classes would have been blind-grade. (2) He wrote an unsigned case comment, so he did in fact publish. (3) He obviously didn't have the academic bug, because he didn't try to pursue clerkships, and didn't thereafter write law review articles, even though he could have walked into a law professor job if he had, but so what? (4) When you said something ignorant years ago and got called out for it, it doesn't make *you* look good to reprise the incident.
Andrew Follett@AndrewCFollett

In undergrad, I called Obama an idiot in front of a professor...citing the fact that he was the only editor of the Harvard Law Review to never publish a law review. She literally screamed at me while frothing at the mouth. Never said how I was wrong though!

@CoreyWriting There are shelters and metros in every Ukrainian city. There are only tunnels reserved for Hamas in Gaza. Ukrainians fight on the front lines, so attacks on the cities are aimed at civilians. Hamas fights from hospitals and schools and tunnels under residential buildings.

These numbers illustrate the difference in a people who care about the lives of their children (Ukrainians) and those who use them as human shields or child soldiers (Hamas). Ukrainians could also evacuate because Europeans wanted to help them. Arabs did no such favors for Gazans
Mohamad Safa@mhdksafa

Child deaths in wars: Ukraine: +791 in 4 years. Palestine: +21,000 in 2.7 year. Lebanon: +200 in 74 days. Does the world condemn the killing of children or is it complicated when it is Middle Eastern children?

@DrunkGritty00 Why would the Flyers sell low? At worst, his floor is probably 25 goals, 60 points a seaso with mediocre defense. Your basic 2RW. Another ELC season, then 2yr RFA bridge. Check back in 4 years.

This is a classic marketing tactic to drive down the price of a player. Same thing happened with that quote about a team willing to offer more for Knies than Matthews (which is fucking stupid). Doesn’t matter, Michy isn’t getting traded anyway. He’s ours 🫡

Anthony Di Marco: Re Flyers: By all accounts, Matvei Michkov is not held in high regard by plenty of team personnel members across the league at this point; That being said, the Flyers are in no hurry to run Michkov out of town - Daily Faceoff (5/12)

@LizHurra If they can't disarm Hezbollah, I don't think Bibi would withdraw until the buffer zone is completely cleared of any Hezbollah infrastructure. The Israelis would then treat it as a "free fire zone" and prevent Shiites from returning and providing cover for Hezbollah.

Lebanese officials speaking to AP seem to think that what they had offered Israel in the 2024 talks to end the war would suffice this time around: Israeli withdrawal in exchange for vows to later disarm Hezbollah with the militia's consent. In the 2024 deal, Hezbollah agreed to disarm south of the Litani & the LAF indeed took some arms and hideouts under its control. Yet, when Israel invaded, it found large amounts of weapons and large underground Hezbollah complexes. Worse yet, Hezbollah never agreed to disarm north of the Litani and threatened to kill (نزع أرواح) those attempting to do so. Trump can force an Israeli withdrawal in exchange for vows to disarm Hezbollah - Netanyahu won't disobey him. However, it seems unlikely to me Trump would adopt this position: Trump believes in "peace through strength" and he knows this would be damaging to Netanyahu politically in an election year.

@hahussain If the Israelis want to troll the Palestinians, they should have a Rabbi declare Nakba Day a Jewish holiday and instruct Jews to get so drunk they can't tell Sinwar from Bibi (a la Purim and Mordecai and Haman)

@peterrhague Does "Indigenous" now mean you can trace your roots in a region from the Neolithic? In that case, everyone in Europe needs to return to Central Asian steppes and the Northern Levant. Seems to be a competition between the Far Left and the Far Right to see who is more stupid.

The scary thing for Minnesota is that this problem isn’t going away anytime soon. Good luck beating both Dallas and Colorado in a single playoffs when Kaprizov makes so much more than the competition. Not to mention the 1C problem which is probably an even bigger deal. #mnwild
Puckmarks@puckmarks

$17 million seems a little ridiculous for Kaprizov when you’re supposed to be gunning for a Stanley Cup, not just being okay with playoffs. It will be extremely hard to get out of their division when COL and DAL’s stars make so much less. #mnwild

@charlieo_conn Actually, I thought he was pretty modest. Admitted that he had no idea that Barkey, Bump and Martone would have such an impact, the first two were recalled for a couple of games and they weren't sure they should even play Martone.

Daniel Briere's Thursday exit interview struck me as less of a press conference and more of a victory lap for the GM, as he highlighted all the ways his rebuild appears to be working as planned. He earned the right to brag a bit: allphly.com/briere-flyers-…

@youlikethat1987 @Univers_77 @avappleyard @NHLFlyers Grebenkin's injury may keep him out of the lineup beginning next season. At that point, they might want to shut him down for an extended period if it's that serious. Hathaway more likely to be 13th forward if they don't trade him (probably his call).

With Brière explicitly mentioning C as a spot @NHLFlyers will try and strengthen over summer... UFA C's who are capable of 40+ pts 1. Malkin 2. Jenner (split W/C) 3. Roslovic (plays more W) 4. Haula Not including Benn, Giroux, Johansson who basically full-time Ws. #Flyers

@cpewts @avappleyard @NHLFlyers Glendening is basically a center. Couts was playing a hybrid LW/C role. He'd do the same with Laughton. They loved Laughton, they just couldn't turn down that deal. As 4C he'd be a patch at 32, while young centers marinate.

@avappleyard Briere's MO is patience. Doubtful that any upgrade would be available at a reasonable price (just say no to Matthews, doesn't fit their timeline). But you never know. My money would be on another "Zegras move," top prospect who has struggled and needs a change of address.
