So, here's the thing. Tolkien himself struggled over the nature of orcs. Although their orcish existence is inherently wicked, their essence as created beings in Eru's world is good. After all, evil cannot truly create. For this reason, Tolkien seemed to believe that, at least theoretically, an orc could be redeemed, however unlikely. Whether they are corrupted elves, as in the Silmarillion account published by Christopher, or something else, their most basic essence must ultimately come from Eru.
