I've been looking at the stats on this. There are two ways to launch a blockchain. You either launch a killer application where you really know what you are doing. Hyperliquid did this. OpenSea could do it. Unichain failed at it. 90% of the revenue on Hyperliquid comes from a single application. And that is fine - the moat is the risk engine. It attracts enough liquidity to build apps further up the stack and now with platforms like Tradexyz and Paper Trade coming of age, the network will see value. The other way, is to launch a general purpose chain with enough varying experiments to see one hit escape velocity. Ethereum and Solana has ±25% of their revenue coming from the top revenue generator. On Polygon - that is 40%. I don't know what happens to that network when prediction markets go elsewhere, but it is a stat. Ethereum and Solana have ±100+ revenue generating protocols - so the long-tail of applications are tremendously valuable. If I were at Solana, my focus would be on the long tail of applications because that revenue diversification is the moat. It is the same for Ethereum. The leaders on these networks also generate down-stream activity. MakerDAO (Sky) and PumpFun are leaders for individual networks. Downstream activity on Ethereum is staking, lending and RWA. PumpFun breathed enough activity into the DeFi ecosystem on Solana for the long-tail of apps to grow to relevance. The last instance - is that of a network being a platform. On Linea, 90% of the revenue comes from Metamask. When Ondo launches its own network - perhaps we would see the same through its network. For such systems to work, you launch multiple products and stick around long enough with distribution moats to become relevant. Ondo is widely used. So is Metamask. The distribution moat is what helps these networks become relevant. Some networks are seeing traction vertically integrating in capital dense operations. On Arbitrum, the two revenue generators are Aethir and USDAI - both are focused on compute/AI boom and that has sufficient traction. I don't know what the ecosystem guys at most L2s do - but if you find yourself wondering if you're betting on an ecosystem app or platform, perhaps this helps. Chart unrelated

as a new chain today, you better focus on either: - new asset classes like collectibles - tokenized stocks - non financial use cases potentially massive markets with few people really going after them

@heart_ Seiko are great at this range. You can get a Grand Seiko for $3.5K AUD so thats in the price range. The Seiko VANAC Is a risky choice for someone not into watches - I kinda like it, almost Brutalist Seiko Prospex Alpinist Tissot PRX - well within budget and a nice "bracelet"

potentially controversial opinion: provenance pretty much doesn't matter in crypto. there are very few exceptions for this history is written by the victors and narratives can be spun after price action. punks weren't the first NFT, but they have that title for normies bc they were the exception and still matter i remember buying mooncats on eth thinking provenance mattered, then i was buying solarians on solana. 'the first' is a great narrative when you're trying to attract buyers but it fades to irrelevance soon after. there's also always debate there were many memecoins on solana in the old days, just as eth. i remember SAMO and WOOF, there were many others. being around earlier is not a silver bullet, they would get viciously outperformed by intentional new teams in the years to come hyperliquid is another, more technical example of a better team coming in and achieving far more in a shorter timeframe. coinbase has been around since 2012 but it didn't take long for HL to start eating their marketshare i was one of the ppl who thought buying PURR would outperform hype not too long after the airdrop, it was memecoin szn after all. that was very incorrect this is a unique structure tho as it is kind of an 'official token', i think of jupiter's solana:WENWENvqqNya429ubCdR81ZmD69brwQaaBYY6p3LCpk as similar. it is official and there is a lot of love for it, but it doesn't feel like an organic, culture-based movement i am a profound believer in hyperEVM szn and i am extremely excited for the culture layer to continue getting built here. ive had many ppl reach out about where i see opportunity and i essentially just respond stay curious on hyperEVM and try stuff there is no beta hype but i believe that at some stage the amount of ppl who have missed the trade will stack up until speculation szn begins on hyperliquid, there will be some obvious and some non-obvious bets but i personally doubt the #1 meme on hyperEVM will be as easy as just picking the first one and believing. it's difficult bc of how hyperEVM is structured, you can't just launch memecoins or random things - yet like everything subjective you need to try a lot of different things before you find something that sticks. but i am of the belief that something will come, people will innovate and there will be extremely exciting things happening on hyperEVM i also don't think it a solved game, competition breeds innovation and there are many teams trying to do cool things so we'll likely see some shake ups i can't wait for hyperEVM to pick up steam and i will be sharing as much as i can with my followers about what is worth looking at in the ecosystem bc i think that's where the opportunity will be this cycle. capital and opportunity follow attention hyperliquid
merp@0xMerp

current state of the .hl ecosystem is like 4 verticals, and the investing world is almost a solved game perps lending tradfi perps staking HL has perps monopoly, portfolio margin probably also enables lending monopoly tradeXYZ has monopoly on equity perps (probably no token, just own hype) Kinetiq has staking monopoly For memes? i think theres really only one answer. lots of purr holders have nuked their bags, multiple of the top holders are actually basis farming and nonevents regarding supply, im pretty sure that everybody who wanted to sell at shitty prices already sold if HYPE becomes a top 5 blockchain whats a reasonable valuation for the largest memecoin on hyperliquid? provenance used to be a thing, maybe time is a flat circle papertrade will garner lots of attention, its novel and will be distributing ownership to users and jez has lots of influence. if ur not already theorizing how to be the first guy to lose money ur already behind something like altdotfun can seem interesting at first but on second look its like... 97% odds that its just a farm, the barrier to entry to deployment on hypeEVM is rather low, extremely low compared to deploying on hypercore. needs to be kept in mind
