Unless there is a broader strategy here. Are we really thinking that Tocchet just went rogue? Do we think that Briere and Jonsey don’t know exactly how Tocchet feels? Do we honestly think that Tocchet just dgaf? No. The question i would love for you all to debate is “why is this discourse being allowed to be made this public?” They 100% have a PR strategy and this 100% part of it. My belief? Listen kid, you want all the glory from the media, you better be willing to take the heat too. You can’t have it both ways.

It just unnecessarily raises public questions about the relationship between player and coach, and player and organization. Feels like a PR own goal to me. Why reinforce that public narrative when you don't have to do so? It just fuels the fire.

I basically agree with Alex's comments on our show yesterday. Not absolving Michkov if he's showing up late for treatments, but you really could have kept that stuff in-house. It would one thing if one of us in the media reports it first. But the HC just putting it out there?

Flyers fans need to realize, their success this year was largely in part conditioned on Michkov having a year, at minimum, marginally better than last year when he was a 65 point rookie. Call it pp/game or nearly pp/game, whatever. They needed him to be ready to go. He wasn’t. He said he wants to be the best player in the league, well he’s learning a valuable lesson here. And kudos to Tocchet..People gotta understand the long game here - get all this out this year. Have it be a wake up call for Michkov to never get complacent again. He let the team down. He has to own it. He will. Next year, I expect a motivated and in shape Michkov from the get go, ready to tear up the league. Bookmark this.
