@carsonkrow At the same time, some of us from red families went to college and maybe even grad school. We honed our critical reading and thinking abilities. And some of us traveled to or lived in other states or even countries.
And trust me, we are just as stubborn as y'all are. #gapol

What happened to Georgia is that Atlanta became what they call “little Hollywood”. They started filming a lot there and elsewhere in GA. We got a ton of blue voters who work in that industry in the city. They want to mess GA up like they did to gorgeous California.
They underestimate the stubbornness of southerners, though, We see them now.

And that screen door better be a Merita Bread door

I think Burt Jones. But I also think, ironically, if I had to pick one of the two to be governor, that’s who I’d probably prefer.

@GeorgeFoster72 They have been in South Georgia for years and are extending their range northward.
Also - they can carry leprosy. Seriously.

@DrTomFrieden How could a hemorrhagic fever have gone undetected or not noticed?

@AngelinaReagan7 It was the year I graduated from high school and our diploma folios all had "Bicentennial Class" under the school name

@JOSEPH45075332 @realdocspeaks Some of this is good food for thought ... but I must say that I don't like being classified as "mediocre" since I am a NP. There are plenty of valid situations and reasons that one (like me) may not find medical school viable. Being "mediocre students" is not one of them.
English

I’ve played around in my mind with a training scheme where everyone is educated on the same curriculum
As students progress, top students advance to MD tiers with higher responsibility
Meanwhile mediocre students could pivot to “midlevel” schools
This would have the advantage of not having students start med school and then have to leave or be pushed through the system. They would simply adopt a lower tier license
I see this as a solution to the middling standard testing students too. We could have very broad acceptance rates to a medical track. Anyone who excels in the eyes of their teachers could be advanced provided their teachers see their potential
This would of course require massive restructuring of the education system, perhaps down to the college level
And so it will never happen
But it’s an interesting thought exercise
English

Either 500 hours of training is adequate for licensing, or you need 5,000 hours plus residency.
They both can't be true.

@kleib323 @realdocspeaks The answer isn't to lower the standards.
English

@realdocspeaks @statesdj Also, I'm very disappointed that our accrediting bodies have not cracked down on direct-entry and online NP programs. The consequential quality issues hinder the profession as a whole
English

@realdocspeaks @statesdj May I chime in to say that I have been a NP for 18 years and that I know I don't know it all! I value MDs who will truly collaborate and teach. All that being said, the 3 1/2 years that I practiced in a FPA state were the ones when I had the greatest physician collaboration.
English

NPs can practice independently after 500 hours of training and with the use of an online curriculum.
Primary Care Physicians must obtain 5,000 hours or very structured and standardized clinical hours and then they have to complete additional years of residency prior to obtaining a license.
Either the NPs are vastly undertrained and practicing in an unsafe manner, or the PCPs are vastly overtrained and overpaying for their education.
We need one standard for the independent practice of medicine and not two!!! That @wsj is what a great topic for a healthcare story looks like!! @DrDiGiorgio @anish_koka @sonodoc99 @mass_marion @belen_amat1 @DutchRojas @HeathVeuleman @DrCorriel @noahkaufmanmd

@NPRinskeep So basically he's going to encourage Americans to beat the shit out of each other? Plus desecrating the White House
English

Dana White’s UFC will stage fights at the White House June 14.
We talked about it on NPR:
“Everybody thought that I was going to build a card, America versus the world, where we did the exact opposite. America is a country of immigrants that all came from somewhere else and they’re all going to be represented.” 1/2
