Donald Trump and Republicans included a section in their “big beautiful bill” that would slash taxes and restrictions on purchasing gun silencers. That'll make it easier for ANYONE—violent criminals included—to get their hands on one of these dangerous silencers.

@SenWarren I 100% support the banning of silencers. Anything that makes gunfire fail to register above your old lady farts on the decibel scale should absolutely be prohibited. Suppressors should be fine though.

@LPNational I think we need to sort out how to deal with the very worst offenders, but I don't trust government to choose which citizens live and which die. Every case we know of where someone innocent was put to death due to corruption or incompetence made murderers of all of us.

@JulieBorowski Yeah, the pandemic was a huge issue. I think primarily this boils down to the classic political phrase, "It's the economy, stupid." People don't believe that this admin has made the economy better. They thought the se.tjing in 2020. Wild atuff.

Also, the pandemic played a huge role in increasing the number of votes in 2020. People were less busy and had fewer distractions. Lots more people paying attention to politics. And voting was easier and more convenient than ever.

Yes, there was more Democratic votes in 2020 than 2024. I don't think that proves that the election was "stolen" from Trump in 2020. In 2020, I believe more Democrats came out to vote. We just had 4 years of Trump and they were angry. Anger is incredibly motivating and gets people to vote. In 2024, the anger towards Trump isn't as strong as 2020. The country has had a break from his presidency. There's also been an increasing number of anti-Trumpers turned supporters or at least not haters. One of the best things Trump did this time is long form podcast interviews. These really humanized him. More people realized that he wasn't the "fascist dictator" that they were lead to believe. And honestly, the getting shot thing. A lot of people had a newfound respect for Trump after he handled it like a straight gangster. They can't hate on that realness.
