I think we need to build this. I designed this below image, representing Lewis and Clark on the Mississippi in the style of Argonath. At $1 Billion or more, I think it can be done.

Destiny 2 is ending. All expansions cancelled. No more content updates after this last one. It's over.
Destiny 2@DestinyTheGame

Read the full blog at bung.ie/d2_may_21_2026 For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us. From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.

🚨 @USGS has found that the Appalachian region of the U.S. contains enough lithium to replace 328 YEARS of imports! Thanks to world-leading mineral science, permitting reform and renewed investment in domestic mining, @POTUS has reclaimed America's mineral independence.

In 2013, the entire internet (rightfully) cooked Microsoft for the Xbox One’s mandatory 24-hour check-in DRM. It was a PR disaster so bad they had to do a total 180 before launch just to survive. Massive waves of people fled to PlayStation, claiming they were "voting with their wallets" for "the gamers" and "ownership." Fast forward to 2026, and those same people have spent over a decade building massive digital libraries in the Sony ecosystem, only to find themselves dealing with the exact same "periodic authentication" DRM they claimed to hate back then. The funniest part? Watching those same people now do absolute mental gymnastics to defend it. "It's just a bug!" "It's for security!" "Who stays offline for 30 days anyway?" The gaslighting is incredible. Turns out the DRM wasn't defeated in 2013; it just waited for you to get comfortable and trapped in a digital ecosystem.

There is no bigger mystery in game development to me than games that hundreds of people work on for years, and nobody can see that they are just bad and stand no chance. Highguard is one such game, and now you have a developer still unable to believe they made a bad game. No, it's "the gamer culture" that killed it. And The Game Awards. And the rage-baiting YouTubers. Not the boring, artificial world. Not the pseudo-edgy yet generic characters. Not the corpo-style UI. Not the tired genre. It truly boggles my mind. The article starts with quotes about how the game was received internally, yet all it took was one trailer for an average gamer to understand this was doomed to fail. Highguard, Concord, the Painkiller reboot, and more -- hundreds of people worked on these games for years. How does it happen that they ever see the light of day in the form they do? What is this? Is this the legendary "toxic positivity"? Something else? Tell me.
