She is referring to W Social, a fork of Bluesky that gates an open protocol (so anyone can make a bsky client) behind W Identity, which requires users to verify via an EU ID or passport. A private company poisoning the open well!

🔴🇪🇺 FLASH - Ursula Von der Leyen confirme bien qu'il y aura une application européenne pour l'authentification sur les réseaux sociaux. L'union européenne va donc avoir accès aux cartes d'identités de tous les européens qui vont devoir les présenter pour se connecter sur les réseaux sociaux. Von der Leyen indique que pour cette application, "c'est facile à utiliser" et que "cela protège la vie privée'. Elle indique qu'il faut comme un permis pour les enfants pour se connecter aux réseaux sociaux. Une loi sera proposée après les vacances d'été.

i was writing a codebase from scratch and i deliberately not used AI so that i can write the foundation and patterns for it to use in the future, and someone else on the team started writing a lot of AI PRs; i fear for the future of that codebase, will be a rewrite for sure

It’s always interesting to hear people claim an application can be built entirely through vibe coding. You might get a working MVP, but the real challenges show up in the long run Scalability, maintainability, architectural consistency, regulations, and technical debt become increasingly difficult to manage when a codebase is generated without deliberate engineering decisions

I saw him at AtmosphereConf and he was genuinely excited about what the AT Protocol can do for the future of the social web, talking to developers and founders about pain points, and I can't wait to see what he does to spread the open Atmosphere to the rest of the internet!
