@CFDevelop I've struggled, tried Rust and Zig languages occasionally, and found that it's still more important to solve the problem

Writing code was never the point Solving problems was always the point Time to let go of the desire for control You’re not a coder anymore You’re a software developer and that’s better

@ben_a_adams I was the second one to discover and like it. I happened to have been following this issue for six years.

It is time. Let's go faster! Let's use io_uring for dotnet System.Net.Sockets on Linux! PR124374 Replaces epoll with managed C# io_uring engine: batching, multishot accept/recv, zero-copy send, registered buffers, SQPOLL (zero-syscall), and more 🚀

I really don't like codex. Steering it seems slow (it takes forever to respond to my added context). It keeps asking me for permissons to run what looks like the same command with different inputs. I'm sure I need to tune it more...

Microsoft and Hacker News seem to have a lot in common with regard’s to AI. Both seem to not really get it. It’s hard to see a company you once looked up to and wanted to work for fumble and trip.

Hot take: 2025 will be looked back on as the year we thought we all had to write agents, before the emergence of a handful of "frontier agents" that you simply want available to you everywhere and all other software to work well with.

Looking for recommendations: best .NET libraries for formatting / templating HTML emails for transactional emailing. We've been using MailGun's API for doing this for years but I think we're about to outgrow that system.

@golub So ignorant, what are you worried about? China has not invaded any country! Even this military parade specifically illustrates the theme of peace;

...probably just use Ubuntu for simplicity. Arch is appealing but much less friendly for transitioning. Devenv -> Rider has been perfect, great job @jetbrains Steam (and associated efforts) have solved a wide range of the older pain points. So far: no regrets.

Aggressively making the Linux switch for my home (and work) computers. Partly because Windows keeps annoying me (ads, privacy, trying to force me to use Edge etc every update). Partly because Linux is more relevant for Redis work. Still playing with distro choices, but will...

@ruima 并不是女性反婚姻、反生育,只是她们再也找不回10年前“选对郎”的安全感,给自己一个台阶下找的藉口。直白点讲,实际原因是当前时期年轻男人没有更多的资源获取交配权的结果。

While China tech might be doing OK you can just go on RedNote & see how Chinese society, specifically the women, are not doing OK. It’s a lot of anti-marriage anti-children yolo consumerist crap. It’s difficult to describe how toxic the thinking is. It wasn’t like this 10 yrs ago

@davidfowl Yes, the test is only for a few aspects of B/S, it does not represent the strength of .net. c#/.net is the most comfortable of all the languages and frameworks I've ever had

@davidfowl Just to be clear, I do not mean any harm, I have been using .net for 15 years, witnessed the .net team's great efforts, .net performance is a leap forward; It's just that the database client still needs the community to work together to improve performance
