@AnishKattukaran @naresham @Google @madebygoogle The biggest issue is that interruption of responses is no longer possible. If Gemini goes on a rant, it cannot be interrupted and must be left to finish. Assistant would let you interrupt with hey Google (or Gemini can be interrupted in live mode). Mine is using home hubs.

@naresham @Google @madebygoogle What simple tasks are you referring to where you would prefer shorter responses? Are these smart home, media and alarms/timers or something else?

.@Google @madebygoogle @AnishKattukaran Gemini for Home is a step backward. Why lengthy explanations for simple tasks? If not 100% relevant, I need a chime or short human answer, not a speech. Gemini can't manage basics & GA is broken too. Fix it, let GA remain & allow us to opt!

After a long (long) conversation with support, apparently Google Store orders must have the shipping address and billing address be the same. The support agent was adamant that this is a published condition of the Sales Terms, but I don't see it. Do you? store.google.com/intl/en_us/abo…

Google Chrome is now showing an ominous "These extensions may soon no longer be supported" warning on the installed extensions page without any explanation whatsoever. I'm assuming it's the manifest v2 deprecation, but Google's messaging here is horrible. How many people will switch to Firefox over this?

@MishaalRahman Pujie dev is already concerned because they're using the unsupported format... I hope they bridge the gap more. I love my animations and such and there's seemingly no support for that with WFF.

If you develop a watch face for Wear OS, heads up: Upcoming releases of Wear OS may require you to use the Watch Face Format (WFF) in order to "show data from most data sources in watch face complications." In future releases, watch faces built on the legacy Jetpack Watch Face library or the Wearable Support Library will only be able to show basic data like the battery level, unread notification count, time, date, and an app shortcut. Google sent an email to developers yesterday (h/T @9to5Google) which leads to this snippet in the developer docs: Watch face developers on Reddit point out that some features unique to legacy watch faces, like certain in-app features or complex animations, don't translate to the new WFF. If I had to guess why Google is doing this, my bet is that this has to do with supporting the new hybrid OS interface that Google announced a few days ago. Watch faces built on the WFF are rendered on the ultra low-power MCU instead of the AP. It makes sense that heavily customized watch faces can't easily be made to operate on the MCU which runs an entirely different OS. Google wants to standardize watch faces so users don't have to worry about whether a watch face will heavily limit their smartwatch's battery life.

For over a decade now, every time I get an update for @Gmail for @Android, I look for this feature, which is present on Gmail web, but inevitably never find it - the ability to delete a single email from a thread. Here is how you do it on the web (see screenshot). However, the only way to delete something on Android is the whole thread - all messages or nothing. This is such a valuable (and may I say basic) feature, but we still don't have it on Android. It's probably my #1 request. If you're a Google engineer working on Gmail for Android, I implore you to implement this feature. 💌

Google Wallet on Wear OS added support for passes and loyalty cards last month, and I finally got a chance to try it out on my Pixel Watch 2! It was nice being able to scan my boarding pass at the airport/security/gate without having to pull out my phone. All the relevant boarding pass info (TSA PreCheck mark, gate number, seat number, etc.) is also accessible on the watch, just by tapping the pass then scrolling down when the QR code appears.

@mweinbach OneTracker you can set to have send you updates as they happen so you can watch every time it gets into and leaves a depot. I enjoy that a ton since UPS now hides so many of the movement details compared to FedEx, and I can't always be watching the tracking websites for updates.

The moderators of /r/Android, Reddit's largest community centered around the Android OS, have decided to extend their blackout until 20:00 EDT on June 20th, 2023. They will "continue to monitor the situation" and are ready to further extend the blackout if necessary and even join other subreddits in an "indefinite blackout". Here's the statement I was given: "r/Android will be extending our blackout, and will be private until June 21st, 2023 UTC / June 20th, 2023 20:00 EDT / June 20th, 2023 17:00 PDT. r/Android has not ruled out an indefinite blackout, but also is not opposed to joining the indefinite blackout. r/Android will continue to monitor the situation and is prepared to continue to extend our blackout if the situation does not show positive improvements. This is not the first time Reddit has shown a continued lapse in judgement, and communication, for volunteers who do their work essentially for free. Reddit is a community that thrives off community itself. We sympathize with those who want to see the subreddit. We've gotten many requests to open back up, but truth of the matter is, is that Reddit is just a secondary community. For those upset, we encourage you to listen and understand why we're protesting. Secondly, to the sites that contribute a plethora of content to the subreddit, we thank you. We stand with communities like r/blind who need third party apps for accessibility and developers whose hard work has provided essential tools that the official app lacks for moderation. If the mod team is forcibly replaced, then Reddit admins will have shown their true colors." We encourage the readers to visit other content creators on the internet, and we hope to see you when Reddit is back."

Google sells the speaker hub for Pixel Tablet separately right? I'd probably get an extra so I can dock it in my kitchen when I'm there but on my desk otherwise
