I don't think its really that deep. I think players just want to be able to see their mmr. The argument from riot has always been that you guys "can't do that" because it "doesn't feel as good to the player" when they improve. Yet the most popular competitive game in the world (Chess) uses this simple mmr system. If thats the only reason you want to hide it, it doesn't appear to be a very good reason if it works for chess. However, if your reason to hide mmr from players is because you don't want people to know how it works, then we're back to where we started. I'm sure you can understand why players might be suspicious if this was your rationale for why you want to hide mmr

Not a good analogy. Flat earth is easily scientifically proven. Your MMR/elo system is not. Its hidden behind a black box. Coupled with weird/suspicious jagex patents, leaks, and every riot employee dodging MMR questions like the plague, its only natural that people feel as though you're hiding something. I mean, you are LITERALLY hiding the real elo of players, why would it a be a jump to say you're also hiding other mechanisms and logic in the matchmaking system?

But does this even need to be said? No one shows up to an interview with a plan. People show what they've built He's saying something extremely obvious to sound smart. He then goes on to say "design is work", when it literally is not work. Its a document designing/planning the thing that you want to build. Its a dumb tweet with no substance in an effort to sound smart and philosophical.

Yeah, tbh I don’t think there even is a “good” system that can effectively govern a large group of people (1,000,000 or more). Our biology evolved to be communal/tribal creatures. Only within the last 3,000-5,000 years have we had these large scale governing bodies that enforce rules upon millions. Prior to that, we spent 300,000 years in much smaller communities/tribes.

Socialism in very small scale works just fine - i.e. in a family, special community (monastery, prison, whatever); being capitalist to the bone will break you from your family because it tends to attune you to competitiveness, not helpfulness and kindness. Both systems in large scale protect parasites more effectively than the entrepreneurs.

Socialism is for kids, and people who never grew up. Capitalism is for adults. Deal with it.
