@ChadWitko @AlvaroAdventure Timing of AOS is a bit early for typical LIGU dates in SW ON in August (towards end of month). Best to keep track of sightings & if one happens to turn up early, go for it. I'm on ON RBA Discord server and attending AOS, so if one turns up, I'll come and find you and tell you.

Does anyone have any tips for finding Little Gull in Ontario, specifically along the north shore of Lake Erie, in August? Port Burwell Provincial Park? Long Point Beach? I'll be attending AOS in a few weeks, and this will be my best chance at a lifer. @AlvaroAdventure

@FisherSpeaks I still maintain the "Vortek Voyage" episode is still the best ever, but I may be biased.

I just registered for the @AmOrnith 🎉 meeting! I will be talking about Pepe 🐥 in the #MotusWTS and about hummingbirds and pesticides. anyone else here going? I suck at running these days but the 5k run is so much fun 🤩 Can’t wait!

Meet Pepe! 🌎 This is his story: Pepe hatched in Canada in summer 2018. Pepe is a male Canada Warbler, weighs 10 g, and is almost 3 years old. When Pepe was less than 6 months old, he travelled 7000 km from the boreal forest in 🇨🇦 to 🇨🇴 (Colombia) in fall 2018. 👇🏼

Today we saw a QUARTER MILLION warblers fly past Tadoussac, Quebec. >85,000 Bay-breasted Warblers, and >50,000 each of Cape May and Yellow-rumped Warblers. Full details, photos, and video here: ebird.org/checklist/S139…

Male Short eared owl wing clapping - displaying behaviour to the female in the area. This is the first time I've seen and recorded this! No audio due to wind, but it literally sounded like someone clapping 40 meters in the air #TwitterNatureCommunity

If I needed fewer reasons to be on this platform anymore, why @TwitterCanada do the same tweets just keep going by over and over again as I'm scrolling? It's like watching an episode of the #Flintstones.

In-studio playback tests of Bucket Baffle for recording flight calls: 1. Amplitude of background insect noise is LOWER below bucket (🟠 graphs). I.e. the sound-dampening foam works. 2. Amplitude of flight calls is HIGHER above bucket (🔴🟣 graphs). I.e. the cone is a reflector.

Allow me to formally introduce my Ph.D. thesis writing assistant. This is Dipper! He’s almost 9 months old now and he’s a very good boy.

For atlassers in the Boreal Shield, it's a great time to take a stroll after dark to listen for the hoots of the #GreatHornedOwl as they are re-establishing territories and attracting mates now. Report any breeding evidence; we are in the safe dates! #ONBirdAtlas3 #Owls

@ChadWitko @Team_eBird Instead of using the "explore" function on the mobile app (30 km tadius), this would be for trip planning on a macro scale

@ChadWitko I'd love it if @Team_eBird would create a map that's the inverse of my sightings map. Instead of mapping what I've already seen by state/province/country, seeing where there's potential for new year/life birds would be awesome. It could be in colour, like Hotspots, to plan with

@emilyrondel @LFDLCanada We built one and put it on our front lawn. It gets used A LOT! The better the book selection you provide the more people use it and replace the books they borrow with other good books. If not a source of reading material, it's certainly a curiosity for many folks walking by.

Hey, do you use Free Little Libraries? I am curious if my books will be taken to a loving home if I put them in there! @LFDLCanada

@GowElizabeth @ECCCSciTech Cool! I'd be curious to hear how successful this approach is. We've done several projects using colour bands on birds in winter in Ontario, but have extremely low reporting rates of resights, especially foreign ones (not at original banding location).
