Grok is now giving ICP lots of support! Back in 2/25 I hoped AI would help ICP by offering a source of truth on X that paid media, market manipulation, astroturf and crypto "research" funded by big money interests, have hitherto masked — use it to make "scales fall from eyes" 💥

Caffeine is still v young & we need to get better at communicating our development direction. In the New Year, we're moving to a new Phase 2 AI Engine, which is more agentic. Note a lot of trad projs recently started using pre-canned agentic frameworks (e.g. from Anthropic) that have given them an instant boost, but they're all forever going to be at that same level. We believe unlocking real potential requires custom frameworks that very specifically target built-for-purpose self-writing stacks, e.g. think about Motoko, and orthogonal persistence, which fuels AI's modeling power, etc, and we are moving to a completely *custom* agentic framework. Once we're there, we should be able to make rapid gains, and as usual, we always aim to outperform all others by a significant margin. Note that there are many corollary aspects to this change, including, for example, upgrades to the Motoko language that allow actors (canisters) to be defined across multiple code files. Not only will the new agentic system be able to code more complex systems, but it will also create code much faster, as it can break down work into parallel streams. Plus, it will become easier for users to fix issues. To understand why, try specifying some lengthy text for an app/website page currently. Oftentimes, the text will be changed slightly by hallucination, because the new page text enters the project through input context. In the future, the more agentic ensemble would copy the supplied text into a file, and then later directly copy/pipe the contents of that file into the page code verbatim — with zero unexpected changes. You can probably see how this kind of approach will eventually make it far easier for users to surmount complex problems by giving specific instructions. Of course, these matters are nuanced, and it's not always so easy to communicate to everyone exactly what's happening and why, and predicting timelines isn't always perfect, but part of the next Caffeine releases must include means to help the interested find out more about the current direction and how challenges are being addressed O, I should say, there's also going to be a Caffeine blog, which will aid in this cause. Many great things are coming early in 2026!!

Dominic just addressed the recent concerns around 1.5M ICP minted and sent to centralized exchanges. Key points: It was not DFINITY Not a current or former DFINITY employee Not Adam It was a 2017 ICO/seed participant who had been dissolving neurons since launch and recently withdrew accumulated maturity This was not insider selling. It was legacy supply from early investors exiting, likely for the last time. While disappointing, this also suggests that much of the early, extractive capital is being flushed out of the system. The focus now returns to execution: advancing the Internet Computer vision, pushing Mission 70 to reduce inflation and waste, and accelerating delivery across DFINITY and ecosystem teams. Transparency matters. Context matters. The work continues.
