We set this camera in a new spot last fall where a deer trail crossed a remote hiking trail. This video is a distillation of 7 months of footage totaling >2 hours. Suffice it to say, we were pleased with this spot and we hope you enjoy the footage! The camera was put up in late October. Most of the first videos captured were during the rut when several bucks were traveling on the deer trail. One buck, in particular, was a bruiser in terms of body size. And then as the rut winded down, the number of bucks on camera dwindled and does started using the trail more frequently for the rest of the fall and winter. Of course, wolves traveled on both the hiking and deer trail throughout the fall and winter. In some instances, wolves traveled down the hiking trail and then stopped to smell deer tracks on the deer trail. We suspect they were assessing how fresh the tracks were and therefore how close a deer might be. In some instances, wolves veered off the hiking trail and ventured down the deer trail, and in others, they continued down the hiking trail. Notably, we put this camera here because this is where the Cranberry Bay and Nashata Packs overlap. You can see both packs on cameras. Cranberry is the larger pack and Nashata is the smaller pack with a whitish wolf with green-ear tags. As mentioned above, we distilled >2 hr of footage into a 6 minute video. We did not include much of the nighttime footage, which was mainly of a snowshoe hare that spent a ton of time in front of the camera and deer traveling at night down the deer trail. We included most wolf footage in the video but there were a few nighttime sequences we excluded because they weren’t great quality. Interestingly, though, we did not get a ton of other wildlife on this camera other than wolves and deer.

Gen X...do you all feel old, or is it just me? Menendez brothers eligible for parole. Susan Smith eligible for parole. We may find out who killed JonBenet Ramsey. We already received confirmation O.J. did it. We found out what happened to Jacob Wetterling. And now they're releasing the real Blair Witch Project. Wowza.

From Saul Kassin's book, Duped, here are the common behaviors LE are trained to look for to determine deception: they appear too nonchalant they look down a lot they look away they look to the right they look to the left they stare they blink too much they don't blink enough they freeze in their chair they slouch they slump they shrug they turn to the side they fold their arms they clench their hands they cross their legs they lean away they fidget or squirm they sweat they hesitate to respond they flash a muscle twitch in the face #DelphiTrial

This only sounds crazy if you don't understand the Reid Technique of Interrogation. Once you understand it, you'll see why someone like Holeman thinks he's a human lie detector. The 9 steps of the Reid Technique to elicit a confession are not used on every suspect a cop interviews. Rather, they are primarily used for the suspects the cops "think" are guilty. On her recap of Holeman's testimony, @aburkhartlaw explained it is a "guilt-presumptive" method of interrogation. She's right. But what causes the presumption? It's the pre-interrogation "behavioral analysis" undertaken by the police. Remember when Holeman said we look for cues, like looking down, or touching your face? Those are part of the "behavioral analysis" police think they are trained in to determine who is guilty. Is it backed by science? NO! It's all complete and utter crap. Studies have been done; police are as bad (and often worse) than laypeople in determining deception. But having been trained to believe they can tell who's lying, LE only apply the Reid Technique when they think they have identified the guilty suspect. The Reid Technique isn't a method of getting information; its sole purpose is to compel a person to confess. PERIOD.

I understand why people want #RichardAllen's trial televised. But it's daily clips like this on the web, in one place or another, that make me think it a bad idea. Well aware that many in the #Delphi "community" may well disagree—and the opposite pov is certainly defensible.

Oh, one more crazy turn. Brian Steel has an issue to bring up to the Judge. He says Ms. Love messed up today and has turned herself into an "unsworn witness" by injecting her own knowledge of facts/conversations into her questions, forcing the jury to have to weigh the credibility of the witness vs the credibility of the lawyer, which is improper.

Barbara indicates she received a copy of the search warrant affidavit from Logan directly, who received it from his attorney. This is certainly plausible, as Logan's attorney would indeed have access to a copy, even if Holeman did not provide one to Logan directly. And we would certainly supply that to our client, as we are usually obligated to do if they request it. And this would not be a "leak," per se, as Logan was under no obligation to keep it confidential. Having said that, it does not explain how MS got it, unless they simply took Barbara's copy and watermarked it as their own.

@fien_X @HoosierColdCase I visited him at his property and he handed me a copy of the PCA for the second search of his home. He allowed me to take photos of each page with my phone, which I then ran through a scanner app to make a clean file.

There seems to be a lot of claims that @defense_diaries received an early draft of Hennessy's motion, since one of the names in the document was later changed. I understand why a journalist and a non-practicing lawyer would make this mistake: they don't practice law. Those of us who practice law in Indiana know exactly how this happened. Because we've done it ourselves. When we e-file a document, the document is submitted. Before it will hit the docket, a clerk must review the document, "accept" it for filing, and then post the filing on the docket. If the clerk is busy that day, or if we file it after-hours, the e-filed document can be retracted or the e-filing "canceled" and re-filed, so long as the clerk has not placed the document "under review" or "accepted" it. Another deep, dark secret of practicing lawyers, for those who don't practice law: after we e-file the document, we sometimes take one more look at it to make sure we did everything right. It's not a conspiracy; it's called due diligence. I can't count the number of times I have done exactly what Hennessy did. I have e-filed something, only to discover later I found an error. When that happens, I open up my filing history to see whether I can retract the filing and re-file a corrected version. My guess? Hennessy e-filed the version @defense_diaries had. Hennessy then sent the version to Bob because -- guess what -- it had been filed and was clearly publicly accessible. Later Hennessy found the error and re-filed a corrected version. After filing the original action documents, we did the same thing by sharing them with media outlets who had reached out for information. Want to hear the craziest thing? THE STATE DOES IT, TOO! Do you think all those reporters just randomly show up to press conferences, where copies of just-filed documents are provided to them by prosecutors? As soon as Hennessy hit "Submit" on the e-filing, it was as if he had walked that filing into a clerk's office and had it ink-stamped, like we did in the old days. And then, because it is a public document, he was free to share it with anyone and everyone.

All this wildlife activity occurred in just 21 days last October near the end of a long beaver dam! The otters, in particular, wanted to put on a show…and we all know folks LOVE otters... Anyway, this beaver dam was a new spot for us this fall. We had noted that Wolf Y1T, the breeding male of the Blood Moon Pack seemed to cross this beaver dam a few times so we decided to give it a try. Sure enough, we captured Y1T crossing this dam with his two pups in tow. We do not think these two pups survived as all observations of Y1T since late fall have been just him and his mate. We did keep this camera on the dam though as it seems like a good spot and we aren’t gonna complain if the otters want to show off a bit for everyone!

@IzzyDew @VoyaWolfProject More questions. Why this log and not the one next to it? The reaction reminds me of my cats' reaction to bleach. I wonder if there's a fungal spore being released or something decaying at that spot. I wish we had the answer...

This old, moss-covered log was a popular place in the fall! The allure of the log caused some bears to temporarily lose their minds and the log paid the price for it! The wolves and some other forest critters were not too far behind the bears! At one point, a bear thought about making a very naughty decision with our trail camera, but amazingly, the bear showed incredible restraint and maturity. In fact, it is plain to see that the bear, upon approaching our camera, entered a deep state of introspection, self-reflection, and clarity, during which the bear realized it needed to turn away from its former destructive habits and enter into a new life of peace and pacifism. Very rare behavior for its kind. The wolves in the video are the Whiskey Point Pack. The one missing part of its ear is the breeding female and the other one scent-rolling in the daylight is a subordinate wolf Anyway, we hope this video brightens your day just a smidge!
