Host @tomwconnell says neither he nor @PressClubAust had knowledge of the banner stunt. To those of us who saw it, it was very obviously a banner attached to one of the club's own electric projector screens and lowered during the speech by someone with access to do that.

What is it going to take?
How many Aussie lives are you willing to sacrifice for diversity?
Personally, one innocent life lost is one too many for me.

Look at that image. No matter how much you try to force it, it just doesn’t look or feel like a believable, authentic Australian character.
The Man from Snowy River is more than a movie — it’s a cultural cornerstone. It celebrates the high country horsemen, the rugged bushmen, the poetry of the Australian mountains, and the pioneering spirit of the Anglo-Celtic settlers who tamed this land.
This is the heart of the issue.
Australia exists as the nation we know today because the British — including my convict ancestors dragged here in chains on the First Fleet — mapped it, settled it from 1788, built the colonies, named it Australia, and forged the laws, language, institutions, values and culture that transformed a remote penal outpost into one of the wealthiest, freest, safest and most successful countries on Earth.
The Anglo-Celtic founding stock remains the largest single ancestry group in Australia by a very wide margin according to census data. That’s not opinion. That’s demographic and historical reality.
I have zero problem accepting anyone as a full Australian citizen who lives here, works hard, contributes and assimilates.
But citizenship on a piece of paper is not the same as the deeper ethnic and cultural core that built and defined the nation.
You cannot race-swap our foundational legends like Crocodile Dundee, Mad Max or The Man from Snowy River, push the narrative that “we’re all just immigrants,” and memory-hole the people and culture that created modern Australia… then seriously claim it’s the same country.
That’s not “inclusion.” That’s cultural erasure.
Aussies, listen up: You are not racist for noticing this. You are not “far right” for defending it. You are not redefining anyone out of existence by refusing to let the nation you built get redefined out of existence.
Every people on Earth has the right to preserve their own identity and heritage. Australians are no different.
We built this country. We’re right to defend what we built.
