🚨 NOW: A photo was just released of President Trump with King Charles. Trump looks better and healthier than ever! This is a HISTORIC trip. The reception he got is one for the ages. America is respected again.

@CLETUSVANDAM12 @ProfBrianCox @BBCNews "Freedom Units" need to get in the bin. Imperial measures are batshit. It's crazy since as a country we weirdly dabble in both. Our imperial isn't even the same as the US. A tonne? A gallon? Most Americans don't even know a stone. Bin it all!

@ProfBrianCox it's so frustrating watching Brian Cox's shows when he uses kilometres. The BBC doesn't even respect British people enough to at least put the MPH on the screen.Everyone in the uk measures distance in miles.Say kilometres all you want but show mph too..easy @BBCNews

Deansgate Chaos 🚗💥 Deansgate, Manchester’s key artery for over 200 years, is now a one-way bottleneck with half its width given to barely-used cycle lanes (unless you’re a Deliveroo rider). Pat Karney, @patkarney I respect you, but this mess is on your watch. It took me 1 hour 10 mins just to get from Lloyd St to Princess Parkway — to start my journey home. Tourism won’t sustain this city forever. Commerce — Manchester’s true lifeblood — is suffering, with empty office space multiplying. Today I saw motorists fighting in the street. Total chaos. Sort it out before it’s too late. Today you are asking people not to drive into Manchester as you know with the Derby and other stuff going on, the city will be choked. Hopefully not to death. 💪if you agree with my sentiments, please like, RT this post and follow if you feel the council are wrong. 💪

Oh boy. I had clicked off MKBHD's latest video a minute in since I realized it was full sponsored and just hitting DJI talking points. But doing driving reckless for a short clip in a video is always wrong. Don't drive 60 over the limit. Not ever, esp for content.

@MatthewGreen02 They use a similar system in Middlesbrough. It appeared during the pandemic and was never removed. In Manchester, I just turn up and get rid of my recycling and get on with my life. I don't think I've ever waited more than a few minutes or if I'm cycling there is none.

LibDems doubt adding bureaucracy will lead to any major savings, & any savings will be offset by increased costs of fly-tipping. If the public boot the Conservatives out of #Shropshire next May, a LibDem led administration will look to abolish this unwanted system on day one.

Today the Conservatives' booking system for the recycling centres has been launched. Unwanted by, and unpopular with, #Shropshire residents, it is another desperate measure to plug the massive financial gap caused by the Conservatives mismanagement of the Council.

Each year, when Snake Pass from Glossop over the moors closes for landslips or resurfacing, locals from the foothills of the Peak District seize the chance to enjoy the long, traffic-free climb, turning it into a collective celebration of outdoor exploration on two wheels. Now in its third edition, Snake Pass Trespass began in 2022 as both a protest and a celebration in response to Derbyshire Council’s decision to ban cyclists when the road was closed to through traffic for annual maintenance. Since then, the council has relaxed its stance, allowing cyclists to ride from the Glossop side up to the summit and back, marking a significant victory for those who cherish this rare opportunity to experience the Peak District’s most iconic climb without traffic. However, the ongoing degradation of Snake Pass from landslips raises questions about its future as a key route for motor traffic over the Peaks to Sheffield. The council has acknowledged that they may lack the funds to maintain it as a through route indefinitely, suggesting a potential closure to motor vehicles. If this happens, Snake Pass could become a dedicated walking and cycling route—an unprecedented opportunity in the UK. Similar trails like the Monsal Trail attract over 300,000 visitors annually, and a climb of this scale, traffic-free year-round, would undoubtedly become a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and a pilgrimage site for cyclists seeking to conquer one of Britain’s greatest climbs. For now, we have our annual moment to dream of a better future for Snake Pass. Join us, Saturday at 11 am in Glossop, Norfolk Square.

@TheBlueUlysses The whole railcard system is bizarre and a leftovers from a much older system. It just needs scrapping and modernising with a fair frequent user discount system.

@CharlieJGardner @JustStop_Oil So I know nothing about this. But given we are cutting everything to the core and this budget is looking pretty sore. Wouldn't 22b be better spent on say solar panels / energy storage / high speed rail?

@richardparke15 @DrScottArthurMP If we drive up demand for trains everyone benefits. Less pollution / congestion. More people travel to an area and spend money etc. Trains should be a public service not a for profit service.

@DrScottArthurMP Well it depends. A ludicrously expensive train is a bad thing, a ludicrously cheap train is also a bad thing. If London to Glasgow were free or the fare were nominal, you would drive demand up and the service wouldn’t function (and the costs would have to come out of /1

@JuliaLopezMP @NationalHways Let's remember what adding more roads does to an area. It certainly doesn't fix traffic. In fact the opposite. Imagine how transformative over 100 million would have been for your area?

Residents will have noticed Junction 28 of the M25 with the A12 is getting a major overhaul. The last gov funded the @NationalHways works to stop local traffic jams, reduce accidents at this major black spot and keep road freight moving to and from our ports to serve our shops, homes and businesses. I went to see progress a couple of weeks ago and it's such an impressive engineering project - much bigger than what you can see from the A12. They're also working with local charities like Harold Hill Deer Aid to minimise impact on local wildlife and digging waterways to reduce flood risk in other parts of Havering. All due to be completed in summer 2025 to improve your journeys. Thanks to all the engineers and construction workers working on the project.

@H_H_Gray What's even crazier is how cheap it is. 60p for an hour! £3.40 for all day? It's not uncommon to find places which charge £7-10 an hour.

Ever wanted to know the real cost of 'free parking'? Cheshire East has given Poynton Council a bill of £68,861 to continue 'Free Parking' in the town That bill will be passed over to council tax payers

"I took these photos/video at the junction of Queensbridge Road southbound & Whiston Rd. These perfectly show how poorly designed the junction is since recent changes by @hackneycouncil. It is now a two lane road instead of the previous design of a bike lane & one car lane. 1/3
Hackney LCC@hackney_cycling

Before & after: Queensbridge Road junction with Whiston Rd, where @hackneycouncil removed a white-paint cycle lane. Now cyclists can't safely get to the ASL (bike box). Instead of creating a safe protected lane the council has increased road danger for vulnerable road users. 😠
