Dark side of Bangalore seed stage startups A BTech graduate from a Bangalore based university in 2019 could not secure campus placement due to multiple backlogs. She joined a seed-stage startup and completed her graduation in 2020, but the startup shut down as it ran out of funds. Within a few months, she joined another fintech startup in Bangalore, which later went bankrupt after the founders disappeared with the VC money. After that, she joined a mid-sized startup with around two years of experience, but since her previous companies couldn’t provide proper background verification (BGV), she was treated as a fresher and had to start from scratch. Now, she works at IBM as an Application Developer with a good package, and she got married as well. When asked for advice, she said that many Bangalore startups are just cloning ideas like Ola and Uber and wasting VC money. Her suggestion was that people working in such startups should move to better roles as soon as possible, especially considering the current economic situation.

ETA: ~11:45 AM Cost: Metro fare + ₹60 last-mile Auto. Today’s Switch: Took the BMTC '500 CA' AC Electric instead. Arrived: 11:25 AM (Earlier than estimated!) Cost: ₹45 total. (Cheaper than last-mile auto fare!) I had a seat for the entire trip. I cleared my emails, took a few calls, and even caught a quick power nap in AC comfort—something impossible during a 3-train Metro scramble. The Reality Check: Granted, it was an exceptional day with Friday lean traffic, but it made me think. Are we over-engineering our public transport with 1000s of crores in delayed Metro projects while ignoring the efficiency of a solid bus network? Open to debate. @ChristinMP_ @Tejasvi_Surya @RLR_BTM

Why do so many Indian startups and small companies pay so low, and why is it so normalized? Yesterday, a friend called me excited and told that he got an internship at a startup through his cousin who already works there. Frontend role, HTML, CSS, basic stuff. 3 month contract. Work hours: 12 PM to 8 PM daily after college. Pay? Unpaid. He accepted it because he believes in hustle culture and hopes to stay long term. Out of curiosity, I asked about the cousin. Turns out, the cousin has been working there for 2 years, is now a technical lead, and earns ₹25,000/month. That’s when it hit me. Is this really how bad the job market is? Or have we just normalized exploitation in the name of “learning,” “experience,” and “hustle”? Unpaid internships. Full-time hours. Low salaries even after years. At what point did this become acceptable? Genuinely asking.

If you’re in a tier-3 college, don’t waste time on useless things. Explore different fields, try new things, fail, and learn. Do whatever you can to build your career. College is the best time to experiment and discover what works for you. Realize this early because graduating without a job teaches you the harsh reality of society, and that phase is really tough. I see a lot of people facing this.

I’m from a core Engineering branch. Most of my classmates were determined to build a career in the core field. They spent four years studying core subjects and taking lab work seriously. Then came the placement season. Only 3-4 core companies visited the campus.They had a total of 15 vacancies, but we were 120 students. BTW all this is happening at an old IIT that ranks in the top 10. So a month before final interviews, the entire class was suddenly studying DSA basics, guesstimates, and puzzles. There were no more discussions about tensile strength or cantilever beams. Most of us came from middle-class families and needed a job immediately after college. This is the sad truth. India needs a strong push toward manufacturing, yet some of the brightest minds are forced to move away from core engineering into non-core roles.

@pulkit_mittal_ I'm from a Tier 2 college, and half of my class easily got placed in Mechanical Engineer jobs... And other half easily got jobs off campus... On the other hand, its really hard to get CS/IT jobs these days... I can't believe your story....

New dynamic QR system to address malpractice, errors & screenshot misuse by linking each payment directly to specific ticket & conductor ID in real time. According to BMTC , New system aims to make ticketing more transparent, secure and foolproof, reducing revenue leakages while enhancing commuter convenience

Some BMTC Conductors caught cheating by inter changing UPI scanner. After conducting an investigation BMTC has exposed the fraud of more than ten conductors. By removing the BMTC’s UPI scanners & using their personal scanners, they transferred lakhs of rupees into their own accounts. These cunning conductors as soon as the bus leaves depot reportedly remove & keep aside the BMTC corporation’s UPI scanners installed in the buses. When passengers ask the conductors to buy tickets by making payment via UPI, the conductors provide scanners linked to their own personal accounts on their mobile phones & get the passengers to transfer the money into their accounts. Following complaints about this from Public , BMTC security officers carried out inspections & caught more than ten conductors red-handed. Further investigation has also revealed the extent of these conductors’ fraud. It has come to light that in each individual account more than ₹50,000 had been collected from passengers.
