Truly, literally, every single business in rural Terlingua, TX is speaking out against the Big Bend border wall in a universally nonpartisan manner with everything they’ve got. One coffee shop built a massive replica wall with a canoe on top saying “STOP THE STEEL.”

@tobinjstone Sorry if this has been mentioned, but I completely agree with you that surface parking is wasteful. To @PGuy77’s point, adding space between each parking space IS a superior design, compared to the basic single white line.

it's an idiotic, massive waste of space. A truly wealthy society would put the parking underneath the Costco, make the Costco itself the same size as the parking lot, and put apartments on top of the costco.

There’s so much that @keds_economist gets right about housing. On the topic of more middle income housing, I wish they had discussed city rules that force everyone to have two yards and more parking than they need.

As a @tesla owner (bought in 2020), I trust @waymo far more for AV rides. That said, scaling fast and making safety a lower priority worked well for Uber. I hope the public has higher standards for driverless tech.

What’s coming online is mostly $400k+ homes. We’re still short on starter and middle housing. No wave of foreclosures or mass sell-offs ahead. Home sales will increase when prices fall. Buyers aren’t willing to pay covid-era prices. Inventory is not the issue.

Took @Uber to & from downtown Austin last week (thanks @DowntownATXInfo). Ride there smelled like cigarette smoke and driver was looking down at an iPad in his lap. Ride home was @Waymo 🤩 It feels like the early days again, unlocking a new service that will change things forever

“Tax credits for third spaces” @profgalloway always drops solid ideas in his list of improvements. The value of these places is more than their sales revenue and ability to pay property taxes, and we should treat them differently.

Waymo needs to bring back the @Waymo app as soon as humanly possible in Austin. As someone who experienced how great the Waymo app was in Austin, it’s absolutely insane how much of a downgrade the experience is for people looking to take an AV now that it’s Uber exclusive. You can’t guarantee if you are getting a Waymo until after you pay. There’s no dedicated tier or way to indicate you only want an AV. On top of that, we’re missing a ton of features that the Waymo service has: - No Spotify/YT Music - No precise pickup/dropoff selection with pin - No pull ahead feature - No my car feature with saved climate/audio controls - No multi stop/roundtrip trip management features Waymo is such an incredible service and I truly care so much about it, really hope they listen and bring back the great user experience they can offer through their app.

I’d be curious to see if the DART numbers were up much. @DFWAirport has done very little to encourage transit use, which makes it hard for airport transit to succeed. @DARTAlerts
