@punkinomenon Always felt that way with SMW. You tell me I‘m watching 70s footage I wouldn‘t bat an eye. Even the NWO really. Long haired, goatee‘d biker guy and Scarface cos player throwing gang signs in 96? Really? In hindsight really only 98/99 Attitude era really meshed with the Zeitgeist.

@TheJordanTruth Also MJ handled himself like a gentleman in public always. LBJ oozes an unwarranted arrogance and aloofness.

@MoryMagisSprts Worst part of being old is the constant baragge of shit revisionist history. MSM was on MJ constantly. „Jordan rules“ was a hit piece by a CHICAGO beat writer. Ridiculed after Orlando loss. Rodman trade predicted to be a disaster. He wasn‘t Mr Untouchable until way into 2nd 3peat

LeBron completely changed how the game was played outside of the lines. Completely re-routed how it was talked about. So yea, nah, I disagree.

@JoshEberley LeBron is not an influencer. Great player but not influential in any way.

@sirguywhosmiles @EveryCarpet @TheMindScourge I have a suit from an old 16oz Lesser worsted that is more comfortable across a wider temperatur range than a S140 Scabal worsted I also own. Both become too warm at around 23deg C, the S140 feels more uncomfortable then. I only wear flannel when I WANT to trap heat. It‘s all…

@sirguywhosmiles @EveryCarpet @TheMindScourge No. They can weave less material more dense, reducing overall weight, raw material consumption while increasing optics (wool takes on a luxurious sheen). Drawback vs the cloth of old with it‘s rather „corse“ weave is it traps more body heat. Negligible in air cooled environment.

@EveryCarpet @TheMindScourge So you're contention is that big business has employed technology to use MORE raw materials to sell a HIGHER quality product to it's customers? Older suits were heavier cloth because being hard-wearing was a bigger priority then comfort.

It feels truly insane to me that people used to wear full-length cotton suit jackets and dress pants at all times. This is Manhattan in the height of summer, late June 1936! And these are factory workers!

@ApexJones22 Yup. Even though the decision was super cringe, there was something redeemable about him during the Heat run. Between return to the Cavs and BLM, his handlers seem to have lost the plot.

A few years before he went full cornball--never to return to niggadom--on ESPN in the summer of 2010, LeBron was actually a likeable dude with a sense of humor who didn't seem to take himself too seriously. The LeBrons commercials were indicative of that. That was a long long time ago. Why don't they make commercials like this no mo? The way he close the flip phone cracks me up.

@NBA__Courtside Case in point: „The Jordan Rules“ was a hit piece. He wasn‘t the unfailable icon he‘s portrayed as now until deep into the second 3peat.

@NBA__Courtside This is such a revisionist take. Trad media was on MJ‘s A$$ like crazy. Just because we didn‘t have unhinged SM doesn‘t mean we didn‘t get a 24h news cycle. In a way it was worse, because it was all curated. Imagine NBAonTNT was your only source and you couldn‘t fact check.

Colin Cowherd explains why it seems Michael Jordan has more ‘Aura’ than LeBron James: “There was no social media. Part of what makes Michael fascinating is we didn’t know about his private life. There weren’t platforms so you needed his basketball, and his fashion. That was your gateway to knowing Michael. You didn’t know about his marriage or private life. We get so much of LeBron. So it doesn’t feel special… You had to either buy Michael’s shoes or go to his games. That’s how you saw or heard Michael’s greatness. LeBrons everywhere. There’s nothing LeBron could’ve done about that. There’s a mystery about Michael and a uniqueness” (Via @TheVolumeSports)

@NBA__Courtside Also (I‘m generally not a hater of him) LBJ comes off as an arrogant, aloof goof and his lack of formal education and social class shines trough anytime he tries to look smart. MJ‘s just a middle-class boomer who you feel might have attended more than 2 classes while at UNC.

@wiretaup There is a very distinct angry, vulgar, boundary-pushing moment in mainstream (male) youth culture from ca 96 through early 01. NWO/Attitude era part of that aesthetic. 9/11 killed it absolutely dead. The whole NuMetal/Woodstock99 conspiracy theory plays into this as well.

@JCup2013 Mainstream peaked in summer of 1999, then slow descent until the WCW takeover. When Austin and Rock were gone basically back to pre-Attitude basement-dweller image. Benoit killed any goodwill left.

@rynothethird @MibbyLegend @CommieGibberish Biggest cop out of movie history. Betrays the premise. Don‘t have to condone his actions, but realizing halfway through that your antagonist might be too relatable and turning him vanilla movie villain is lazy and cowardly. Esp since Duvall‘s char is most unlikeable ass ever.

A lot of older movies don’t really make sense anymore because Jews have destroyed our country so badly. Christmas Vacation: I’m supposed to feel bad for the guy with the big ass house and full family because he… might not get a Christmas bonus big enough to pay for a new POOL? The Family Man: Cage’s life sucks because he… has a smokin hot wife 2 kids and a 4 bed 2 bath in a safe White suburb? It’s nostalgic that THIS is what people used to complain about. The recent past was relative paradise.

@DrDisco8 Meine absolut liebste Indy-Story. Atmosphäre von hier bis zum Mond. Die charmanteste Love Interest. Die detailverliebte Backstory zu Atlantis. Worldbuilding durchgespielt. Es ist schlicht nicht in Worte zu fassen, welchen Eindruck dieses Spiel 1992 bei einem hinterlassen hat.

Für mich noch immer das großartigste Computerspiel in diesem Genre. Lifetime. Kein Einziges konnte ihm davor/danach das Wasser reichen. PS.: Ja Ja. Monkey Island, dies das. Indie Atlantis trotzdem Bestes für mich.

Something that often gets missed in all this, apart from @LadiesOfReddit “dinergoth” discourse, is how this is so concentrated in the lower class. It seems to be happening not in our major left wing urban centers, who you might otherwise think would be most inclined to it for ideological reasons, but in flyover country. In the home towns you go back to on your summers home from your fancy college, you see your third quartile friend wearing cat ears and long sleeves with thumb holes behind the grocery checkout. The elites seem to unleash these deviations from normality, but let them pass by without effect, while the lower class gets one shotted by it, having no immunity. Like picking up smoking when celebrities who would never touch cigarettes pretend to on TV.

@DMartyr @VBStrong_67 The third act of this movie is the biggest travesty and let-down in 90s cinema history. For the first 2/3 they asked all the right questions and then they pussied out with „muh, incel wimin beater was an ass all along“. Didn‘t help that Duvall‘s character was super unlikeable.
