My hot take is that this game really wasn't *THAT* bad, like I genuinely enjoyed it start to finish even if it was a bit lacking in polish in some areas

@BenEspen Except for the contrived, unsatisfying ending, I was honestly shocked.

Crichton took the tight plotting and fast action of mid-century adventure and combined it with that crunch hard scifi always wanted. He nerded out harder than almost anyone in his books. I could almost *see* the algorithms in his descriptions in Congo.

I largely agree with this, but I will also say that I think the true successor of hard scifi in a popular market was the masculine thrillers of Michael Crichton and Tom Clancy. I just re-read Congo, and it is "Data Science: The Novel".

@darthrahul Most of the issues that are central in the second video were raised in Monday’s video, we just didn’t have time to go in depth.

This is a nice, nuanced follow-up. I do find it funny how Rich and Oliver are NOW vocalising the issues with the tech screwing up the characters and art direction in this one. As if they were blind to it in the original reaction. But good to get follow up on it soon.

With Prey 2 we wanted to create a vast universe with hub worlds and space stations that attracted bounty hunters from around the galaxy, of which you were one. And Tommy from the first Prey was one, too (and was to play a secondary role in Prey 2). Bounty Hunters were all shades of grey in their motives and morals, and many would just as soon kill you to get you outta their way. Bounties were offered by quest givers, and with the reward money you could level up with better weapons, armor and fun gadgets. Parts of the galaxy were run by the equivalent of mob bosses who had no end of henchmen protecting them. It's such a shame that the game was canceled after we transferred the Prey IP to Bethesda.
