I should've probably said this ages ago, but I've largely decamped to other platforms, guys. Click the links on my profile. I still tweet from time to time, but I'm just... burned out on this place. Especially the creeping realization that it was always holding me back. 🤷🏿‍♂️✌🏿

I will add that it's no one person's fault, nor even one department. But it's also not acceptable to say "they can't do it, just accept that." They literally *can* do it, even with child labor (which isn't the limiting factor anyway) and CGI (a challenge, but c'mon).

A bunch of people are complaining about this (I sympathize), whilst others are rationalizing it (I know the vibes all too well, I'm a screenwriter myself). The cold truth is that this could be done annually if EVERYONE involved really wanted to. They don't, so it won't. Period.
IGN@IGN

HBO's boss wants its Harry Potter TV series to "not have a huge gap" between seasons — but has admitted the show won't be annual, and its second year of production is still at the script stage. bit.ly/48fN2XI

@CounterApologis Biologically, some portion of us are supposed to be lifelong weight trainers whilst others are, IDK, regular runners. With the diverging caloric intakes and body types to match. 😅

@Edokwin It is a constant struggle to keep the weight down after having lost it. Like managing what you eat at the right calorie level vs when you know you're going to be hungry.

I say all this with zero bitterness. It's probably adaptive in both directions, when managed properly. The thin person protects themself, subconsciously, from gluttony. The bulky person enjoys food, builds mass, and can lift more weight (with training). x.com/i/status/20375…

i’ve been trying to go to the gym and gain weight recently after being anorexic basically my entire life and i never realized how difficult it is to eat 2,000 calories a day. you genuinely just have to not stop eating all day. this is ridiculous

It was Pascal btw. I sometimes forget even now. Sorry/apologies for writing a long post here or there. I didn't have time to make it short. 😅
Quinn Que@Edokwin

@CernunonOnline It's okay. I recall a famous author (might've been Twain) saying something to the effect of "apologies for writing a long letter, I didn't have time to make it shorter." We think in long first drafts, then edit. You're largely comprehensible tho.

“Lebo M” could have just went out there and set the record straight suing comedians for comedy not a good look. I’m sorry
Variety@Variety

#TheLionKing singer Lebohang Morake, who performed the iconic chant in “Circle of Life,” is suing a comedian for mistranslating the chant's meaning. The song begins with the chant: “Nants’ingonyama bagithi Baba.” Morake’s lawsuit points to an episode of the “One54” podcast where comedian Learnmore Jonasi joked the chant translates to: “Look, there’s a lion. Oh my god.” “Such viral statements, [the lawsuit] says, are interfering with Morake’s business relationships with Disney and his income from royalties, causing more than $20 million in actual damages. The lawsuit also seeks $7 million in punitive damages,” The Guardian reports. “The complaint argues that Jonasi presented his translation ‘as authoritative fact, not comedy’ so it shouldn’t get the first amendment protections afforded to parody and satire that make fun of other artistic works.” variety.com/2026/music/new…

Imagine thinking that the mild annoyance of a comedian deflating the magical exoticism of your song is horrible PR rather than a blip. Now imagine thinking that SUING said comedian is somehow good PR. Oh boy, this guy stinks.

There are huge cohorts of younger people whose entire media diet is convincing them that political liberalism just means "I'm scared to be a socialist because I want things to stay the same" and it's to the point that it's very hard to even get across what philosophy ideas motivate liberals in the first place. The idea that liberals often like markets to allow for pluralism is lost on a lot of people. Will be a big theme of what I post about this year.

Tbc, when I say "in defense of Black Snape," I mean the concept. The actor Paapa Essiedu shouldn't be getting hate mail or whatever either. But he's objectively miscast and it's actually low-key racist to say otherwise. — signed, a melanated TV critic freeblackthought.substack.com/p/racebendingw…

Already said my piece on this (wrote a whole ass article even), but since even some Goodthinking/virtue-signalling righties have started piping up in defense of Black Snape, let me be clear: you're allowed to think the casting is dumb. That doesn't necessarily make you racist.

@PrinciplesBP He's gotta be doing a bit, right? This is a Poe's Law azz tweet if ever there was one. "Whole story ready to go" when talking about an adaptation of a long finished book series? One with an also long finished film series? C'mon.

People forget that “reading” also means comprehension, it’s not just being able to sound words out Most Americans cannot read (and comprehend!) at a 7th grade level, which should be apparent to anyone who’s spent much time online
Reuben Rodriguez@ReubenR80027912

I refuse to believe that most Americans can not read at a 7th grade level If this is “true” then it means we are simply measuring literacy incorrectly; 163M Americans are actively employed Can your 6th grader read an employment contract? Read heavy machinery instructions?

@BlackMajikMan90 @DanFriedman81 The film version of the Harry and Ginny pairing, owing perhaps to how close the films were made to the releases of the books, and how much was cut from each, just rushed the relationship and made it look terribly forced.

@BlackMajikMan90 @DanFriedman81 I distinctly remember the start of either the 5th or 6th film including a scene where Harry is about to rizz up a cute black girl on the streets of London (maybe a meta joke about Radcliffe's tabloid affairs). Then Hagrid or someone whisks him away to Hogwarts, like "c'mon, dawg"

Harry spent seven entire books going after every other girl at Hogwarts while never expressing the slightest interest in Hermione. Harry literally has more chemistry with Myrtle the toilet ghost than he does with Hermione. But Ron was infatuated from the moment he laid eyes on her. Did you not read “Goblet of Fire”? Ron was playing mind games with Hermione by not asking her to the Yule Ball and then Victor Krum asked her first, and she accepted, and Ron absolutely lost his mind. Then Ron and Harry asked Parma and Parvati but completely ignored them at the dance because Harry was obsessed with Cho Chang and Ron was obsessed with Hermione. The entire Black Lake challenge was about Harry and Ron being cucked, because Cedric was sent to rescue Cho, Krum was sent to rescue Hermione, and Ron had to be rescued and Harry had to rescue Ron. Also, in “Order of the Phoenix,” Rita Skeeter wrote in the Daily Prophet that Hermione was Harry’s girlfriend and Harry was icked out while Ron was jealous and furious. If you were shipping Harry with Hermione, that is your fault, because it was never once implied by the source material. Ron and Hermione ending up together is their whole seven-book arc.
The Moonlight Warrior 🌙@BlackMajikMan90

The main change that I want from the Harry Potter HBO Show is Harry and Hermione ending up together at the end. Even J. K. Rowling has admitted she made a mistake with putting her with Ron. This change needs to happen.
