Towards stronger regional economic integration! On March 31, 2026, in Kinshasa, Burundi, the DRC, and Tanzania validated the technical studies for the Uvinza–Gitega–Bujumbura–Uvira–Kindu line. This is marking another step toward modern and sustainable connectivity in the Central Corridor. The three countries reaffirmed their commitment to implementing this project for opening landlocked areas and strengthening economic integration within the Central Corridor. This railway corridor represents a strategic lever to boost regional trade and provide a sustainable transport. This major progress reflects strengthened collaboration between the @FPCIRGL and the @ccttfaorg. In line with its Program on Economic Development and Regional Integration, the @FPCIRGL is providing political and legislative support for these structuring infrastructures. Regional economic integration is the cornerstone of genuine interstate cooperation, driving development, restoring stability and fostering lasting peace across our region. The Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency @ccttfaorg is a key mechanism in this effort, opening up land-linked countries to greater participation in international trade. I had a productive exchange with the Executive Secretary of @ccttfaorg, H.E. Flory Okonge, during a courtesy visit to the Secretariat. Luanda, Angola — The Secretary General of the @FPCIRGL, Amb @dmwaps, held a high-level courtesy and working meeting today with the Rt. Hon. Adão Francisco Correia de Almeida, Speaker of the National Assembly of Angola and Sitting President of FP-ICGLR. The meeting focused on briefing the Sitting President on the mandate and institutional priorities of the Forum, ongoing efforts to strengthen its operational and financial sustainability, and the implementation of key activities under Angola’s presidency. Particular attention was given to preparations for the Women’s Parliamentary Conference on Peace, Security and Development and the 16th Ordinary Session of the Plenary Assembly. Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to reinforcing parliamentary diplomacy, enhancing coordination between the Presidency and the Secretariat, and strengthening the Forum’s contribution to peace, security, stability, and sustainable development in the Great Lakes Region.
