Tenants in our second buy to let found some asbestos pipes. It was there when we bought the place in 1994 and it never bothered us. We lived with it for years. What's the fuss? We told them to leave it alone but they want a specialist. £3,000 they quoted us. Our handyman Dave said he'd rip it out for £200 cash. Problem solved. Back in our day we just got on with it. 🇬🇧

@TiceRichard I think anything more than 9 casual days a year should get an HR interview where you are asked to reconsider your position. The NHS needs to be run by a proven and successful corporate person. A ‘you’re fired’ type of person.

I’ve taken just two sick days in three years—and those were to look after my son and my pregnant wife. Meanwhile, I’ve got family in the NHS who seem to take months off at a time. My wife’s an ambulance technician, never abuses the system herself, and finds it just as frustrating—she sees firsthand how much it’s being taken advantage of.
