And that’s a wrap! 🎓 This week, students at our new Henderson office on Water Street officially completed the Peer Recovery Coach Academy and we couldn’t be more proud. 👏 👏 👏 These graduates are on their way to becoming state certified Peer Recovery Coaches. Next up: completing their internship hours and sitting for the state exam. Peer Recovery Coaches draw on their own lived experience with substance use or mental health recovery, combined with specialized training, to support, mentor, and advocate for others on their recovery journey. Clubhouse members took a trip across town to learn more about career pathways in the hospitality industry. And our current class ran into some fellow members enrolled at the academy (big hugs in the school hallways). Our Recovery Works program is a 12-week supported employment initiative aimed at rapid employment for people in recovery. Today, I toured Foundation for Recovery with Clark County Commissioner @VoteAprilBecker They have built an amazing place for those on the journey of recovery. I was happy to share that our @SecKennedy at @HHSGov supports recovery. Their programs and initiatives span across Nevada, including urban, rural, and frontier communities. Did you know @IBEW Local #357 and Plumbers, Pipefitters & Service Technicians Local 525 are Recovery Friendly Workplaces? We met up with JATC Director Ms.Julie-Ann Peeples to present their designation and provide recovery resources for their members. The building trades offer more than just a job, they offer family-sustaining wages, benefits, structure, and purpose. And for many individuals in recovery, that structure and sense of belonging can make all the difference. We work to offer peer recovery support, recovery housing, and bring training on suicide prevention and recovery to members of the trades. And they have been gracious hosts, welcoming members of our Recovery Clubhouse to tour the union hall to learn more about training, apprenticeships, and career opportunities. 💪 Recovery is possible. Our executive director completed the Raise and Reach fundraising accelerator this week! This three day training was organized by @NVgrantlab and @IndianaUniv Lilly Family School of Philanthropy to give charities in our community the tools to effectively raise funds to carry out our missions.
