Starting today a community has boarded planes, trains and automobiles. Destination: West Virginia. These events are more than just a homecoming for many of us, or the first time we find “our people”. It’s so much more. It’s about what started as a shared love of something evolving into something more. For some it inspired you to express yourself as an artist, or to code and others to chase dreams of voice acting. For others still, it became an avenue of escape into a character and live out a week or weekend in the shoes of another. If the legacy of many games is player agency, those games that we love - uniquely in this community have achieved something few fandoms do: a cultural phenomenon with you as its heart, fuel and soul. And what we can do is nothing short of awe inspiring, Braxton County’s suffers from a 21% poverty rate, with 17% of families and children surviving below the poverty line whose prospects have remained largely unchanged for over a century. This weekend, the best community in gaming, beyond fundraising for the Mountaineer FoodBank, will have a $1.5 million dollar impact on Braxton County. Proof positive that while it’s hard in this word to make a difference on our own - one community, in one voice can achieve more than we ever could alone. Seek out those small businesses, those cafes and tourist spots. They’ve all worked hard for months to welcome you. Take the time to drop by and depart with more than a collectible bottle cap. Leave with a memory. Welcome Home.

@Swurv__ I was thinking of others that would be interesting to live in, but in terms of both interesting to experience, and not having to avoid a horrible death as a standard day-to-day experience , Starfield is my choice.

NEW: Footage shows the aftermath of the Ontario, California, fire that wiped out a 1.2M-square-foot tissue paper warehouse. 29-year-old Chamel Abdulkarim was allegedly upset about his pay, so he decided to burn the whole warehouse down.
