@TheGreatErenan @DougTenNapel Well, keep in mind I’m 40, with no kids, living in farming community central Canada, working a semi delivery job (currently), so I only really interact with a certain demographic and age group. So my perspective is anecdotal, happy to admit that. 1/2

I'm very old. I have much more experience and data. There aren't more people in the audience who care than I think, but there is definitley less in the audience who care than most can imagine. We probably can agree that this wouldn't be an all or nothing type of thing.

@DougTenNapel I do feel that’s your current blind spot, reinforced by your own echo chambers. I’m saying…mass boycotting doesn’t just happen for no reason. You probably shouldn’t ignore that, there is a reason for it.

@DougTenNapel I think this is different, people still work in restaurants, people still produce and perform the K-pop…we never had to think about that before, it was always a given. We’re now in uncharted waters, but you’re comparing it as if they’re somehow the same. 1/2

@DougTenNapel With all due respect, you don’t think Ai supporters are in an echo chamber themselves? It’s easy to see the benefits to output, you’d have to be pretty dense not to understand that obvious uptick, but I think the focus on “number go up” is blinding a lot of you to the pushback.

@DougTenNapel I understand my local experiences are anecdotal at best, but people have been surprising me just the same. And I completely understand why, a big part of my enjoyment in art and media has always been because I’m inspired by the craftsmanship. Ai essentially has none…people care.

@DougTenNapel Of course, nothing is that black and white, but I have been pretty surprised by the level of disconnect from many people, once they learn something is Ai, and I’ve yet to meet someone personally that isn’t tired of it. 1/2

The best artists will use AI the same way great musicians used distortion, samplers, and synths: as force multipliers. The weakest artists will call it cheating because that sounds nobler than admitting they got outrun. That split is already happening.

@Tectone I’d say he did more to free women from being exploited by the men running the porn industry. I say good for them for taking control of an industry that couldn’t exist without them, and finally making bank on their own terms. Can’t defeat the horny, may as well take their money.

This man single handedly did so much irreparable damage to our current and future generations of women. He essentially created the Covid virus for women’s shame, completely destroyed it. Let us go back to a time where the act of sex was sacred. And seeing a women’s asshole wasn’t accessible for less than a Fortnite battle pass.

@sappholives83 Meanwhile…the republicans currently in power ARE rounding up people and putting them in camps to be deported, while using violence (even murdering) protesters. It’s disgusting no matter what side you’re on, but don’t be ignorant…the right is past fantasy currently.

Nothing to see here; just the “good guys”fantasizing about putting Republicans in concentration camps. This is the ultimate destination for any movement that sees violence as a rational response to disagreement.

I don’t care. Give me Bronte, Stoker, Tolkien, Shelley, Plath, and Wilde. Give me the thousands and thousands of fantastic contemporary authors there are out there today, writing across all fiction genres and non fiction. Give me flawed, but brilliant, passionate prose and poetry not your bland and soulless drivel. I don’t care.

@DougTenNapel You underestimate people (and your work). More people care about how the sauce is made than you think, and gen Ai is proving that everyday. Most people I talk to miss not having to check if something is Ai or not, and they tune out the moment they do learn it is, cause it matters

Ai doesn't address the David being carved out of marble. Giant, difficult, impossible skill level classic art not only isn't being done by Ai, it isn't being done by 99.9% of the artists of the last 100 years. I'm a pop-culture, mass-media artist (among other types of art I also make) and have produced and delivered over 50 projects entertaining tens of millions of people and not a single member of that audience was aware of the work it takes nor did they care what processes we used so long as they were entertained. Ai makes pop-media easy and cheap. I highly doubt that if the audiences "bought" more Simpson's with their attention than The David carved in marble that they will suddenly find their art integrity and refuse Ai. Though, if they're going to ditch Ai on the principle that it isn't the David carved in marble, I hope they'd also reject McDonald's, The Simpson's and even Earthworm Jim with this new found, mass revival of maturity and commitment to Truth, Goodness and Beauty.

@Artedeingenio You think it’s so easy, try getting out there and doing it in some of the locations he’s done. You know fuck all about doing graffiti…doing it for decades without getting caught. Drawing and cutting those stencils and carrying them to locations to…you’re as ignorant as ever.

Are Banksy’s graffiti art? Banksy is known for using the stencil technique, which involves applying spray paint over cut-out templates (made of paper, cardboard, or acetate). This doesn’t require a great deal of skill. So why are Banksy’s works so admired and valuable? Certainly not because of the technique, but because of their symbolism, their message, their poetry. Because in art, technique is secondary, what truly matters is symbolism and what it conveys. And anyone who doesn’t understand this doesn’t really understand art at all.

There was backlash against digital art tablets and CGI first. Photoshop, too. These tools will become normalized and it will be industry standard in a couple of years.
