@HackerVilela I think modern AVR still supports the old Dolby surround/pro logic even with the newest Dolby Surround mode. I've done a bunch of tests with old Dolby Surround test vids, and they all worked properly, giving sound on the right channels. It's also working well with real consoles.

The time is now! Tales of Phantasia Cross Edition is now available in English and with optional 60 fps battles! This project was only made possible thanks to mziab and the people at Phantasian Productions. To celebrate, here's some art by @beltran_sadie. All relevant links below.

@VerminousCoot It did but I never released it, as it required passing an extra pair of wires to the gun. I plan to make a better version but all side projects are on hold until I finish working on the new gun4ir firmware.
English

Several people have been asking me if my #GUN4IR system would work on a real #PlayStation
Well, yes it does 😁
The best part about it;
No RPi or special scaler needed, only few low cost and easy to find components. No border. Low latency. Works with the normal GUN4IR firmware.
English

@RetroRGB @retrotink2 That totally makes sense, thanks for the explanation!
English

@JBGameLab @retrotink2 It's the exact same as 1080p120, as it needs to buffer the same amount to double the frames. That's usually about 9.3ms total, regardless of BFI or CRT mask emulation (I double checked with these new profiles too).
...but 60hz-in to 60Hz out is less than 2ms.
English

RT4K users with a 4K120 (or higher) display NEED to check out @retrotink2's latest firmware - You can now try a 3840x1080, 120Hz output! That's 4K aperture grille CRT mask detail, but with BFI! All the details are in the post: retrorgb.com/retrotink-4k-f…

@Cinephilosofant @RetroGameCorps That's my point, both of these opinions are very subjective; to my ears even with the fix they still sound terrible, and the added sound latency is very noticeable in gameplay. So yeah, same as previous issues, these won't be fixed as long as people are ok with a shitty fix.
English

@JBGameLab @RetroGameCorps It clearly isn't a problem with the speakers itself if a simple EQ mod can make a night and day difference. And the latency is a nothing burger. I am very sensitive when it comes to asynchronous audio, but here it is negligible. I rather have minimal latency than terrible sound.
English

@Cinephilosofant @RetroGameCorps That fix adds quite a lot of sound latency. And sadly, the speaker quality itself is terrible, so while you can do "fixes" to improve their harshness, there is nothing to be done about the quality itself.
English

@JBGameLab @RetroGameCorps The speakers are terrible with the standard firmware, but there is an audio fix that makes them sound actually pretty great. I don't understand why the device sounds so bad out of the box.

@TwonXBT That house isn't worth fixing at all. You'll need to get it removed (costly) and build a new one (also costly). Which will end up costing you as much as just buying a new house near the city. Plus remote places in Japan suck, even with car. If anything happens you're on your own.
English

@ObsoleteSony Obsolete Sony cases and not compatible with Sony Xperia phones? Missed opportunity 😂
Joking, I know Xperia phones are just not worth the trouble nowadays (sadly).

This looks like a pretty cool open source device, finally a proper horizontal FPGA handheld!

Hey look its the #GameBub an #Analogue Pocket competitor FPGA gaming handheld for #Nintendo GBA and GB/GBC! Prototype unit but so far the results are pretty fun. Lot more in depth in the vid but def worth looking into (vid in reply) #gaming #gamingnews #gaming_news #Nintendo

@VEsoterica That FPGA handheld looks super nice, I hope the crowdfunding reaches its goal!

@MisterAddons Looks really nice but damn it, here in Japan that means massive scalping and shortage, no way I'll be able to get that at a decent price 😅
English

@topapate Yeah, the nonsensical "japanese" characters here make my eyes bleed 😂
