@SethHic15601041 @davemeltzerWON It's as revived as it will ever be. They made probably 100 times the money off the video library that they paid for the whole thing and they got to pillage the IP for PPV names, themes and even groups like the NWO.
English

The Monday show on Spike was planned to be called Nitro. Ed Cohen had done an entire WCW touring schedule, the angle started with Linda McMahon catching Vince with his pants down with Torrie Wilson to lead to an on-screen divorce angle where Linda was to get control of Raw and give it to WCW owner Shane. On Monday night after Tacoma I told a WWF VP Vince was going to change his mind, and was told no chance that could happen. The next day or Wednesday Cohen told me the WCW project was dead and he has to rebook 18 months worth of dates. Other execs let me know later that day.

@davemeltzerWON I was always of the belief that Viacom had no interest in a WCW branded show and they had an exclusive deal. Is that incorrect?

@GoatedGen30 @SpursCulture But Castle doesn't make big money until 2028-29. Harper doesn't make big money until 2029-30. They still have the luxury of fielding the very skilled Swipa on the roster for a couple more years.
English

@SpursCulture Spurs will need to offload Fox and have Harper as a starter if we are to see his full potential. Having all that money tied up in Fox makes no sense
English

@VinceGoodwill And it doesn't have to end in a championship. Derrick Rose, Steph, Draymond, Webber, Mourning, Hayward, Conley Jr. and Oden, Chet Holmgren... (and many more I'm not writing here) had highly memorable March runs without a title.

@michaelmiraflor @shrimpfriedpee @rosiekennedyxx @russhmeyer Velociraptor looked cool in a movie(s) and then he/she got a whole basketball team named after him/her (this was the time period when another movie character, the Mighty Ducks, also became the name of a pro team).
But T-rex still bested him in the movie.
English

@shrimpfriedpee @rosiekennedyxx @russhmeyer yeah and then you have Velociraptor (prob KD) coming out of nowhere making claims of being Top 5.
English

@McCadeP8 Thanks! I omitted Duncan and Ginobili because Ginobili joined the team one year after Parker did, but I bet that number is also still impressive.
Also curious about Magic and Kareem, although they played “only” ten seasons together.
English

@JordanPushedOff 1214*, 948*, and Larry only played 897 himself 789 with Parish
*I misread while looking up and accidentally included playoff games…..so even less by about 100-200 each.
English

If you changed Stockton and Malone to *Stockton and Malone*
They'd be 8th all-time with 1,412 games.
Insane stat.
NBA@NBA
Congrats to @KingJames of the @Lakers on becoming the NBA’s all-time leader in TOTAL GAMES PLAYED!
English

@tomhaberstroh All jokes aside, Durant is durable as hell at his age, after his injuries.
English

@jazzbeargryllz @McCadeP8 Middleton got injured and didn't recover to his old self. Maybe they should've traded him sooner while he had value, but trading him in the title defense year (2022) would've been tough.
English

@McCadeP8 Admit it, post championship they’ve been absolutely awful with their roster moves
English

They won a title.
That is the only part of the conversation. They built around Giannis in an awesome way and then did everything they could to tape it together after the main window closed.
I'd 100% take how the Bucks have handled the last 10 years.
They Won A Title.
Kato Pariña@KatoParinaSLC
The Bucks should be a cautionary tale of how not to build around a superstar.
English

@Drpandu31 @ShamsCharania WWE/WWF purchased WCW (and all its intellectual property, history, video libraries, etc.) from Time Warner in 2001, if that helps to address what you're asking.
English

@SamQuinnCBS Philly Iguodala and Denver Iguodala also gets forgotten.
And don't sleep on Cleveland/Clippers Ron Harper, before he got 5 rings.
English

Kevin Love is one of the co-captains of my “remembered for who they were when they won their ring and not who they were at their peak” All-Star Team along with Ray Allen.
El Jefe@ChaseEnCashe
Calling Cam Boozer “another Kevin Love” is not a diss. It only reiterates the point that a lot of y’all just started watching basketball
English

@CREID2852 @podoffame @bball_ref Thank you, good call. Kareem still finished 4th despite his team finishing 45-37, so I guess some voters were still impressed.
English

@JordanPushedOff @podoffame @bball_ref Kareem punched Kent Benson and missed 17 games that season and it was not a good season for Lakers
English

I am sorry, but if you can’t play in at least 80% of the games, you probably don’t deserve to win regular season awards.
Only five NBA MVPs have gone to a player who played under 65 games.
Malone won in a 50-game strike season. LeBron during a 66-game strike season. Giannis during 72-game COVID season. Cousy during a 72-game season.
In NBA history, only Bill Walton would have been impacted by the 65-game rule.

James L. Edwards III@JLEdwardsIII
The 65-game rule didn’t increase attendance like it was designed. Instead, it’s taken away deserved honors from some of the best players in the league.
English

@CREID2852 @podoffame @bball_ref Voters in ‘78 may have had Kareem fatigue. The voting was close between Walton and Iceman.
English

@podoffame @bball_ref 1) I did not know there was 65 game rule on MVP
2) I am not sure what the rule accomplishes
3) Literally one player in history breaks the rule in 82 games season.
4) 1978 season did not have an OBVIOUS candidate to win and Walton was best player on best record team.
English

@vs_everybody @Charlottean28 His injury was January 1, 2025, so... yes, Keith is correct (almost). He hasn't fully recovered, as evidenced by his "the old J.I. is dead" comment.
English

Grant Hill

If you know, you know
George Wrighster III@georgewrighster
There’s never been anybody this good for this long!
English

@JordanPushedOff @Carsobi I mean he would should have the MVP/DPOY and be the youngest MVP of all time. All NBA is nothing for Wemby
English

@joesanders33 @JustinmTurpin The league had 23 teams then.
Miami and Charlotte got started in 1988-89.
English

Robert Parish was asked who would win between the 2024 Celtics and the 1986 Celtics.
His answer was the ‘86 Celtics because nobody had an answer for Bill Walton.
“The NBA didn’t have an answer for Bill Walton. That’s why we were successful and that’s why we are considered one of the all-time best teams.”
English

@joesanders33 @JustinmTurpin Now add Reggie Lewis for 1987-88.
(In this hypothetical where BOS went 82-0 in 1986-87, BOS would have had the #23 draft pick instead of #22. Maybe the Spurs* at #22 would've taken Reggie.)
* Spurs had the Lakers' pick from the Mychal Thompson trade.
English

@JustinmTurpin If Walton and McHale didn’t get hurt and bias didn’t die, the 87 Celtics might have gone undefeated.
