The thing with a hometown discount is that there is never any guarantee that the GM you leave the money with will do the right thing… It's not like they ask the player if the moves going forward are the right ones.

So will Jarry & Ingram win the William Jennings trophy next season and help lead the Oilers to a Presidents trophy??? Did Oilers even solve the problem in net??? Did the Oilers give up assets and downgrade in the process to try and upgrade goaltending??? Avs also played in the toughest division in hockey all season. I think we all agree that the Avalanche have made smarter moves from a management perspective overall without diving into it on X. Trent Frederick contract, offer sheet debacle, Jeff Skinner & Arvidsson last year, Mangiapane. Let’s not act like this hasn’t been a bit sloppy. McDavid just signed the most ridiculous deal we’ve ever seen to help management out of problems.
