The Cubs are calling up veteran Chris Flexen from the minors, sources tell ESPN. Flexen, 30, has a 1.16 ERA in 5 starts at Triple-A Iowa. Been pitching fantastic down there after an arm slot change. He needs to be added to the ML roster by tomorrow or else becomes a FA.

How is this Counsell’s fault. Can’t pitch Pressly he sucks, Thielbar hell with him, he horrible can’t pitch him. Why put in Pearson he can’t find the plate! Why wasn’t Eli Morgan on the opening day roster? Oh wait he gives up bombs can’t pitch him. Keller no way he’s washed up! Now let’s watch Colin Rea give up more. I mean what’s he supposed to do with the pen hoyer gave him?

I think part of the narrative with Bregman/Cubs was how crappy it was for hitters -- like Cody Bellinger -- last season at Wrigley. Notice how he didn't opt out. Bregman clearly needed a bigger guarantee in years (5-6) and ultimately $$ in order to sign in Chicago.
