@Politics____Alt
trump is anti-democratic & anti-american; vaccines are safe & effective; evolution is real; “chem trails” are water; the earth is round & warming fast

I know this is squishy and both-sidesy, and I am not going to convince any partisans with this, but there's a way to talk passionately about politics without portraying the other side as utter demons who aim to destroy the Republic, and I try to model it in my own commentary.

People out here acting like 80s and 90s kids regularly watched movies from the 50s and 60s.

The implication that if you steal something from a museum you're depriving the public is kinda silly. They have more stuff in the basement! A lack of art objects is not one of the many real threats to American museums.

1/ This is what it looks like on Europe-wide Gallup polls. Greenland is absolutely the thing that has destroyed approval of Trump, and the US, in Europe. Note that Denmark, formerly one of the most US countries in Europe, is now the most anti-US.

This is kind of like the "what about wage theft" retort where you respond to some direct and obvious problem you're trying to excuse with a false equivalence to some other problem that is morally unrelated. But even taken on its own terms, there are 20,000 homicides a year, and if increased police aggressiveness lowers that even 1% it more than offsets a couple protestors getting shot confronting police because they get mad about enforcing laws. And the thing about getting shot fighting cops is you can 100% avoid it by not fighting the cops, while general reductions in the crime rate have positive externalities for normal law-abiding people who are victims of crimes they didn't choose to get involved in.

Piers Morgan asked Russell Brand which passages were relevant to him when he brought a Bible into court.

Yes colorectal cancer is on the rise Anti vaxxers are already trying to pin it on Covid vaccines There is no link to vaccines at all Rates have been rising since well before the Covid vaccine even existed! It's a real problem. Let's focus on solutions, not conspiracy theory

I'm going to break my self-imposed social media ban to note something that I might write if I wasn't leaving on a trip tonight: If you want to solve gerrymandering, it is a solvable problem.

Among many other things, it is absurd that a 50% +1 vote can amend the Virginia Constitution.

@ReichlinMelnick Aaron, the 100 million is a solid figure. No conspiracy theories, just research melded with 30 years as an immigration officer mixed in with this thing called common sense

Congratulations, Georgia Women’s Tennis! 🇺🇸

Just visited W.E. Cundiff Elementary School in Vinton, VA. On to the next polling location in Roanoke County.

Literally nobody has alleged election malfeasance in the Virginia referendum. There have been no reports of fraud, just lots of Republicans taking issue with the gerrymandering, the ballot language, etc. Trump, however, insists every outcome he dislikes is due to fraud.
