@awfulannouncing They ruined the Australian Open this year too. Had flashy anchors instead of Chris McKendry and others who actually know tennis.

@KevinOConnor @YahooSports Just take all the ping-pong balls away from the bottom four teams. Slot them into positions 5-8 by record (worst team picks #5). All other non-playoff teams go into an odds-based lottery for positions 1-4, and the unlucky ones are slotted into positions 9-14 by record.

Inside the NBA’s GM meeting this week: How concept #1 could be reshaped, why 22 teams vs. 18 is a debate, and the one idea that got Adam Silver’s attention. New column on @YahooSports on what lottery reform could actually look like: sports.yahoo.com/nba/article/nb…

@NBCSports 3 great days before schedules changed: - 5 most prestigious CFB bowls on New Year's Day, often with more than one impacting the national championship - Women's final between the men's semis on the final Saturday of the U.S. Open (tennis) - Both women's and men's CBB final fours

Chatted with Rafa Nadal by the Augusta National clubhouse. In prior rounds here, he said he shot even par from the member tees and 80 from the tournament tees. Laughed as he recounted driver-5 wood on the 5th & driver-2 iron on 11. I guess he has natural athleticism! 😳

@HelmetAddict Pretty much every team had a better helmet than one with nothing more than the team name in basic block letters and underlined.

In 1981, my mom, Julia Salnikova, won a junior title in Monte-Carlo. The first year I won, in 2021, I remember thinking it would be really cool to be in this together, like mother like son, 40 years apart. To this day, it is still one of the proudest achievements of my life. ❤️

@HelmetAddict The edge goes to Air Coryell. That three-color bolt is just perfect, and I'm generally not a big fan of white helmets or player numbers on helmets.

@richarddeitsch @ROSGO21 Hilarious that so many of these breathless reports still fail to acknowledge how much the viewership numbers automatically increase whenever any game is shown on ABC instead of ESPN. The championship game moved to ABC in 2023, so any comparison to previous years is irrelevant.

Attn: Women's Basketball fans. UCLA-South Carolina averaged a massive 9.9M viewers. Beat last year's 8.6 million viewers across ABC and ESPN for UConn-South Carolina. Think about this: The national title game averaged 4.68M just four years ago.

@WHENESOTA Pili was definitely a wasted pick, but Reese is definitely more trouble than she is worth. That was a weird draft year for the Lynx, sitting at #7 without any great options available beyond #6.

@erecasner @umichbball Loved Glen Rice, but no way he was a better all-around player than a healthy Lendeborg. Rice was one of the best college shooters of all time, but Lendeborg's overall skill set at his size is incredible.

Where and when did Michigan @umichbball win their last National Championship? And was the best player on that Michigan team better than the current one? I say YEA! No Google or AI search for the answer…

@Parkerfox24 Crazy how much of Connecticut's halfcourt offense can be neutralized if the opponents are athletic and versatile enough to switch almost all the perimeter actions.

Next level stuff… Michigan is so intentional with their defensive scout that they are switching the initial ball screen in UConn’s set plays. They know that eventually the stagger screen, which they are all so switching and topping, will come back and they will just switch back to like on like…

@AshNicoleMoss They had a lot of impact because it was a fresh image that could be sold. But the fact remains that none of them won anything, ever. Good players and dudes, yes. But not champions, even as pros. It was part of an era in our history when style truly began to overwhelm substance.

people severely underestimate the impact The Fab Five had on an entire generation of hoopers. winning doesn’t always equal cultural impact — that team was (and is) a reflection of so many young hoopers from inner cities and that’s why they remain relevant to this day

There's a chance that Liv McGill, Nunu Agara and Audi Crooks are all out of Minnesota's price range in the transfer portal. Gophers WBB already looks like a top 25 team in 26-27, but they have an opportunity to make a big portal splash. More thoughts: si.com/college/minnes…

@tiddyboyhoe @dandakich @espn 1) Asks awkwardly worded questions that bring no insight when coaches/players reply to her actual words 2) Inserts herself into broadcasts during live game action without offering anything insightful or interesting 3) Primarily concerned with being every coach/player's buddy

ESPN reporter Holly Rowe has called out Tennessee AD Danny White over the handling of the Lady Vols program: “What Danny White is allowing to happen to the Lady Vols is making me so sad,” Rowe posted. “Gut wrenching to watch him let one of the greatest programs in women’s sports history disintegrate. I am devastated.” Rowe’s social media post came just an hour after #LadyVols freshman guard Jaida Civil announced her intentions to enter the transfer portal. Coach Kim Caldwell will have zero players returning from the 2025-26 roster, and will look to replace 13 total players this offseason.
