MPD is closely monitoring the incident at a synagogue in Michigan. We are actively coordinating with our law enforcement partners in the District of Columbia. Out of an abundance of caution, MPD is increasing our presence at Jewish Institutions and other places of worship.

Thanks to Smart Cities Connect for inviting me to talk about how DC uses tech in our public safety and justice ecosystem to reduce crime. In 2025, violent crime fell 28%, including a 32% drop in homicides. Today, violent crime is down 20% & homicides are down 59% from last year.
